I am passionate about supporting the social-emotional development of my students and believe the themes of the Yamim Noraim (High Holidays) provide a unique opportunity to engage in this work. With guidance from my mentor teacher at the Heschel School, I taught the concept of teshuva, encouraging students to reflect on small, everyday opportunities for self-improvement.
The lesson incorporated excerpts from a storybook aligned with the Telam Judaic Studies curriculum. To conclude, students wrote sample apology letters to a friend, family member, or even a pet, which were assessed for thoughtfulness and completeness.
