G Garvin's honey dipped fried chicken recipe is a simple but flavorful dish that combines crispy fried chicken with a sweet and sticky honey glaze. The chicken is seasoned with salt, garlic salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper, then dipped in a buttermilk batter that contains honey and eggs. The chicken is then coated with flour and fried until golden brown. The final touch is to drizzle more honey over the chicken before serving.
This recipe is perfect for a family dinner or a picnic, as it can be enjoyed hot or cold. You can serve it with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, coleslaw, cornbread, or biscuits. You can also adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to suit your taste, or add other spices, such as paprika, onion powder, or thyme.
Ingredients
4 pounds of chicken parts (legs, thighs, breasts, wings)
Salt
Garlic salt
Black pepper
Cayenne pepper
1/4 cup of honey
2 cups of buttermilk
2 eggs
3 cups of all-purpose flour
Oil for frying
Directions
Generously season both sides of chicken parts with salt, garlic salt, black pepper and cayenne pepper.
In a large bowl, whisk together the honey, buttermilk, and eggs.
Dip chicken into the egg and honey buttermilk batter and let excess batter drip off.
Evenly coat the chicken in flour.
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat oil to 350ÂF (177ÂC).
Fry 3-4 chicken pieces at a time, occasionally turning them over. Cook for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown, crispy, and the internal temperature reaches 165ÂF (75ÂC).
Rest the cooked chicken pieces on a wire rack to let excess oil drain off.
Drizzle the chicken with more honey, then serve.
