This Privacy Policy describes how LinkedIn Inbound Scanner ("the Extension", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our Chrome browser extension.
By installing and using the Extension, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
OpenAI API Key: You provide your personal OpenAI API key to enable the scam analysis functionality. This key is stored locally on your device.
LinkedIn Message Content: When you click the "Analyze for Scam" button, the content of that specific message thread is temporarily processed for analysis.
Analysis History: Records of your previous scam analyses, including the date, message snippets, and analysis results, are stored locally on your device.
Your information is used solely to:
Send message content to OpenAI's API for scam analysis when you initiate an analysis
Display analysis results to you
Maintain a local history of your analyses for your reference
All data collected by the Extension is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API (chrome.storage). We do not operate servers, and your data is never transmitted to or stored on any servers owned or operated by us.
Your OpenAI API key never leaves your device except when making direct API calls to OpenAI
Your analysis history remains on your device
Uninstalling the Extension removes all locally stored data
When you analyze a message, the content is sent to OpenAI's API for processing. OpenAI's use of this data is governed by their own privacy policy and terms of service:

The Extension requests the following browser permissions:
storage: To save your API key and analysis history locally on your device
activeTab: To access the content of LinkedIn message threads only when you click the "Analyze for Scam" button
The Extension only accesses LinkedIn page content when you explicitly initiate an analysis by clicking the button. It does not run in the background or access data from other websites.
Local Data: Your API key and analysis history are retained locally until you clear the Extension's data or uninstall it
OpenAI: Data sent to OpenAI for analysis is subject to OpenAI's data retention policies
You have the right to:
Access: View your stored analysis history within the Extension
Delete: Clear your stored data at any time through the Extension's settings or by uninstalling the Extension
Opt-Out: Stop using the Extension at any time by uninstalling it
The Extension is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
