LinkPeek ("we," "our," or "the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our Chrome Extension.
LinkPeek is designed to process information locally on your device.
Browsing Data: The extension accesses the URL, title, and metadata (such as Open Graph tags) of the tabs you visit to provide summaries and link previews. This data is processed in real-time and is not stored or transmitted to any external servers.
User Settings: Your preferences (such as background color, text color, and modifier key settings) are stored locally using the chrome.storage.local API. This data remains on your device and is only used to customize the extension's appearance and behavior.
To provide its core functionality, LinkPeek requires the following permissions:
sidePanel: Used to display a persistent, non-intrusive interface for page summaries.
scripting & tabs: Used to identify the active tab and extract public metadata (titles/descriptions) to show you a preview.
storage: Used to remember your UI customization settings.
Host Permissions (<all_urls>): Necessary to allow the extension to generate summaries for the wide variety of websites you visit during your research.
No Third-Party Tracking: We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party cookies.
No Sale of Data: We never sell, rent, or trade your browsing data or settings with third parties.
No External Transmission: All metadata extraction and summary generation happen within the extension's local environment.
We follow industry-standard "Least Privilege" principles. The extension only requests the permissions absolutely necessary to function. By processing data locally, we eliminate the risk of data breaches associated with centralized servers.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the extension after changes are made constitutes your acceptance of the new policy.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or the practices of this extension, please contact us via the support link on the Chrome Web Store listing.
