Hi, I'm Lindsey! I'm an Associate Professor and Scholarly Communications Librarian at Roger Williams University (RWU) in Bristol, Rhode Island (RI). I've been working tirelessly over the last several years to bring Open Educational Resources (OER) to RWU, because I truly believe that they have the potential to transform the way students access, engage with and learn from their course materials as well as the way faculty develop, customize and assign them. I'm the co-chair of the Rhode Island Open Textbook Initiative Steering Committee, and our small-but-mighty team of librarians from across the state is working together to develop a rich community of practice, enabling us to learn and share with one another. Together, we've saved Rhode Island students over $4,800,000 since 2016!
This year I'm honored and ecstatic to be joining 23 other amazing scholars as a 2019-20 OER Research Fellow, where I'll be researching the intersections of OER-enabled pedagogy and undergraduate student knowledge of US Copyright Law. I'm hoping this will shed some light on how academic librarians can best collaborate with teaching faculty to support students participating in this kind of pedagogy.
I'm also a single mother, runner, photographer, bookbinder, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend. I mention this, because I think it's vital that we start recognizing, respecting, and celebrating our colleagues as human beings who have lives outside of the workplace!
Please reach out to me if you'd like to connect about anything Open Education related!
