Welcome to the counseling corner!

My name is Lindsay Walters. I have been the school counselor at Longfellow High School since 2011. It is my great honor to journey with each young mother at Longfellow as she makes her way through high school and creates her path for life beyond.

I am here to LISTEN. to ENCOURAGE. to SUPPORT. to SHARE information and resources. to CO-CREATE goals for the future.

About me

I was born and raised in Minnesota and have lived in Minneapolis since 2007. I started working in education in 2002 and have served as the school counselor at Longfellow High School since 2011. Outside of school, I like going on adventures with my kids, running, playing soccer, and hanging out with friends and family. I became a school counselor because I was lucky enough to have many adults help me find my path as a young person, and I consider it an honor to join others in their journey in the same ways. Working with young mothers is to meet on sacred grounds. With reverence, I am here to help you see and love yourself, find your voice, connect with others, map your route, and take your next step. Let's work hard, show the impossible to be possible, and laugh along the way. To all our young mothers and scholars: this world needs you. You have an important story to share with others and a voice that holds the power to build a better world.
