Grimsby Telegraph - 14 July 1939
GRIMSBY COMEDIAN
Freddie Frinton, better known locally as Freddie Frazer, the Grimsby-born comedian, who is playing with the Follies at the New Pavilion, Redcar, tells me he gave his first broadcast the other night.
He has been booked for two others during August. Freddie, who formerly worked in a Grimsby fish house, but got the sack because he used to make the staff laugh so much they couldn’t get on with their work, has made some headway since he got his first “professional engagement – half a crown for singing in a Grimsby club. He has been with Jimmy Slater’s concert party and in Tom Moss revues since, and is now under contract for three years.
The Stage – 24 August 1939
