Meeting Minutes

Highlands Neighborhood Association Minutes

April 16, 2024

Board members present: Jacob Leuenberger, Rod Hubbard, Rose Klein, Jennifer Hellwege and Brodey Weber. Members present: Michelle Birkel and Jon Pfeifer.

Rod Hubbard made a motion to approve the minutes of the last meeting as printed and emailed. Seconded by Jacob Leuenberger. Approved.

Jennifer Hellwege read the treasurer’s report. We have 25 new memberships and five of the Spring newsletter ads are paid. Expenses are Boy Scout delivery of the newsletter and supplies for next year’s Egg Hunt to Rose Klein. Brodey Weber made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report and pay all pending bills. Seconded by Jon Pfeifer. Approved.

The Egg Hunt was a success. We had a large crowd of 400-500 people. We had some problem with the Pre-School and Kindergarten group starting when they heard the Toddler group called. Maybe next year we should have one person in each area to stop them from jumping the gun.

The Boy Scouts delivered the Spring newsletter the weekend before the Egg Hunt. Meagan Leuenberger did the layout of the newsletter for us.

Someone needs to schedule the Pool Party. The public pools now only rent out the pool for pool parties on Sundays. The days that most of the board were available to schedule the Pool Party are July 14, 21, or 28. Rose Klein has prizes for the cannonball contest. We will need to start getting door prizes for the Pool Party.

Jacob Leuenberger said that the road closings on Fletcher Ave. may start April 29 instead of after school is out. They are almost done with the work on West Highland Blvd. Jacob is updating the Highlands Neighborhood Association Facebook page with the latest developments.

Rod Hubbard made a motion to transfer $500 from checking to our savings account. Seconded by Jacob Leuenberger. Approved.

The new Department of Motor Vehicles will have their official ribbon cutting at noon on Monday, May 20th at 4700 Cattle Drive (off of West Highland Blvd.). Governor Pillen is expected to attend. The DMV will open on Friday, May 17th.

Jacob Leuenberger is updating the website with all the listed garage sales on May 16, 17 & 18. The Goodwill Pickup is confirmed for Saturday, May 18 from 2-5. Michelle Birkel, Rod Hubbard and Rose Klein have offered to help at the pickup.

This meeting adjourned at 7:45 pm. The next meeting is Tuesday, May 21 at 7 pm at Spirit of Hope Church.
