Highlands Neighborhood Association Minutes

March 20, 2023

Board members present: Beckie Cromer, Jennifer Hellwege, Rod Hubbard and Rose Klein. Members present: Jacob Leuenberger and Katy Manning. Brodey Weber and David Staenberg absent.

Rod Hubbard made a motion to accept the January and February meeting minutes. Seconded by Jennifer Hellwege. Approved.

Jennifer Hellwege gave the treasurer’s report. Jennifer said that six members paid their dues last month. Two more paid tonight. She has nine ads for the Spring Newsletter. The checking account is down to about $800 and there will be bills to pay for the newsletter and the Egg Hunt.  Rod Hubbard made a motion to transfer $500 from savings to checking. Seconded by Beckie Cromer. Approved.

Jennifer Hellwege will have the board members over to her house at 215 W. Lombard to fill the prize baskets for the Egg Hunt. The basket-filling party will be on Tuesday, April 4 at 7 pm. We are filling 16 prize baskets and have four large stuffed bunnies for additional prizes, five for each age group, for a total of 20 prizes.

Rod Hubbard said that his friend Connie Ditto will help put out eggs for the Egg Hunt. Jennifer Hellwege will be unavailable due to a family commitment. We will meet about 11 am to put out the eggs. The Spring Newsletter is scheduled to be delivered on April 1 by the Boy Scouts.

The Spring Garage Sales will be May 18, 19 and 20. Beckie will put the garage sales ad in the Lincoln Journal Star. Jacob Leuenberger took on the role of Social Media Director. Jennifer will instruct him on how to set up the garage sale ads. The Goodwill Pick-Up will be one day, Saturday, May 20 from 2-5 pm. Volunteers are needed to staff the Pick-Up.

Election of officers will be held at the April meeting. Beckie Cromer said that we need a new president.

We adjourned at 7:55 pm. The next meeting is Monday, April 17, 2023 at 7 pm at Eiseley Branch Library at 1530 Superior St.
