Meeting Minutes

Highlands Neighborhood Association Minutes

January 17, 2023

Board members present: Beckie Cromer, Jennifer Hellwege and Rod Hubbard. David Staenberg, Rose Klein and Brodey Weber excused.  Guests Amy Adams and Jacob Lewenberger.

Jennifer Hellwege made a motion to accept the minutes of the last meeting as reviewed and emailed. Seconded by Rod Hubbard. Approved.

Jennifer Hellwege reported on the treasurer’s report. Received 2 new renewal membership payments in December. Paid Eagle Printing and Scout Troop.  Jennifer noted the HNA does need to pay sales tax so she will issue a check for sales tax to Eagle Printing as approved last month.  Checking balance $842.43 and Savings balance $4017.93.  Rod Hubbard made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report and pay all pending bills including site hosting fee of $30 and nonprofit biennial report fee of $28.00. Seconded by Beckie Cromer. Approved.

A neighbor of the Highlands suggested a sidewalk replacement campaign to address sidewalk issues throughout the neighborhood.  Members present notes they have replaced sidewalks and it takes up to 2 years for the city to address.  It was decided we would do an educational campaign by adding information about sidewalk replacement in the next newsletter.  Beckie will send information to Brodey about the sidewalks for the newsletter.

An additional HNA improvement idea was shared.  If it decided to go forward with flags look into metal versus material for longevity.

The Social Media Director position is still available.

Jennifer will bring inventory of egg hunt prizes to the next meeting as we prepare for the egg hunt.  Next meeting we will determine what is needed for this year’s event.  Rod noted we need to approve purchase of a new bull horn b/c last year’s is missing. We need to get plastic eggs to nursing home at least 3 weeks before the date of the egg hunt.

Brodey text he will have draft newsletter by March.

We adjourned at 7:37 pm. The next meeting is Tuesday, February 21st at 7 pm at Eiseley Branch Library at 1530 Superior St.
