Meeting Minutes

Highlands Neighborhood Association Minutes

December 19, 2023

Board members present: Becky Cromer, Rod Hubbard, Jacob Leuenberger, Jennifer Hellwege and Rose Klein. Brodey Weber excused. Since we have no President, Becky Cromer took charge of the meeting.

Jennifer Hellwege made a motion to approve the minutes of the last meeting as printed and emailed. Seconded by Rod Hubbard. Approved.

Jennifer Hellwege asked if we should consider getting a different printer to save money on the newsletter. She wondered if possibly the Northstar High School Graphic Design teacher might be interested in using our newsletter as a class project. One problem with that is school is not in session when we put out the summer newsletter. Jacob Leuenberger said that his wife, Megan said that she would do the newsletter design for us. That would make it possible for us to go to a different printer who doesn’t do design work.

We discussed some of the changes in northwest Lincoln. The Cabela’s credit card and call center building is empty and up for sale. Rebel Bean Coffee may be opening soon. Red Zone Bar and Grill will be opening at the LNK Food Court on NW 12th near the Airport.

Jennifer Hellwege read the treasurer’s report. She said that there has been very little activity. Party Inflators paid for their ad and the Boy Scouts cashed the last two checks. Rod Hubbard made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report and pay all pending bills. Seconded by Jacob Leuenberger. Approved.

We are not having a winter newsletter this year due to a lack of motivation. The next newsletter will be a couple of weeks before the Egg Hunt which will be March 30, 2024. We will need to get information to Megan Leuenberger by the first of March. She will need a couple of weeks to work on it.

Jennifer Hellwege has been cleaning out the President@LincolnHighlands email account. It had never been cleaned out and we were over our limit of emails for the account. The account had years of old emails.

We adjourned at 7:41. The next meeting is Tuesday, January 16 at 7 pm at Spirit of Hope Church at 5801 NW 1st St.
