Highlands Neighborhood Association Minutes

May 17, 2021

Board members present: Myrna Coleman, Rod Hubbard, Brodey Weber, Jennifer Hellwege, Rose Klein and Jim Klein.

Rod Hubbard made a motion to accept the minutes of the April meeting as printed and emailed. Seconded by Jim Klein. Approved.

Jim Klein read the treasurer’s report including the cost of $52 for the garage sale ad that Myrna Coleman put in the newspaper. Rod Hubbard made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report and pay all pending bills. Seconded by Brodey Weber. Approved.

Myrna Coleman reported on the Spring Garage Sales and the Goodwill Pick-up. Myrna had eight donators on Friday and 36 donators on Saturday. We had a total of 4,569 pounds donated to the Goodwill Pick-up in the Highlands. Webmaster Jennifer Hellwege listed 43 garage sales on our web site. She said that everything went well.

Myrna said that she is working to get the Pool Party will be scheduled for July 24 from 6-8 pm. Rod Hubbard said that everyone seems to like the cannonball contest. The age groups are: ages 12 and under, 13-17 and 18 and above. Rod would rather we not do the water balloon contest because of the difficulty of getting some of the balloons to break and then we have to spend too much time picking up the broken balloon pieces.

Rose Klein needs to order more squirt guns to give out to all the kids. Rose will take care of cooking the hot dogs and bringing chips, condiments and napkins. Rose will also contact L&W Garbage Service and Hy-Vee for door prizes. Brodey Weber will make signs for the Pool Party and contact Super Saver for buns and water donations and Schilling Bridge for a door prize. Rod Hubbard will get a donations from West Gate Bank and ice from U-Stop. Jennifer Hellwege will contact Coke for pop donations and Hacienda Real for a door prize.

Brodey Weber set a deadline of July 2 for articles for the newsletter. He is working with Katie at Eagle Printing on the newsletter. We will want to advertise the Pool Party, the Fall Garage Sales.

Myrna said that she will check with the Fire Station to see when we can schedule future meetings.

We adjourned about 8 pm. The next meeting is Monday, June 21 at 7 pm at the HiPark Clubhouse.
