February 22, 2021

Board members present: Myrna Coleman, Rod Hubbard, Brodey Weber and Rose Klein.

Rod Hubbard made a motion to accept the minutes of the October meeting (the last meeting) as printed and emailed. Seconded by Brodey Weber. Approved.

Rose Klein presented printed copies of the treasurer’s report. Rod Hubbard made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report and pay all pending bills. Seconded by Brodey Weber. Approved.

Myrna Coleman reported that we are planning on having the Spring Garage Sales on May 13-15, 2021. Myrna will call Goodwill to see if they will do the pickup on Friday from 3-5 and Saturday from 2-5. We will participate in the Spring Goodwill Challenge.

We will put on the Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 3 at 1 pm. Myrna said that if we have over 500 people outside we would need a permit. We believe we usually have about 300 total people, with half of them being children. Rod Hubbard said that maybe we could put a reserved sign at the shelter the day before the Egg Hunt. Rose Klein said that we would need to ask anyone over the age of five to wear masks and attempt to social distance.

Myrna said that Lancaster Manor said that they could fill the eggs and that we could bring some of them and the candy on Friday. Rose Klein brought the tubs of plastic eggs from the farm and has them in her garage. Brodey Weber said that we need to get more people involved to help distribute eggs and to help with the egg toss. Volunteers are needed.

Myrna invited the board to her house on Monday, March 29 at 6:30 pm to help fill the prize baskets. We still have lots of stuffed animals and basket stuffers left that we bought last year before we found out that we couldn’t have the Egg Hunt. Covid 19 was officially declared a pandemic on March 11, 2020.

Brodey Weber is working on the spring newsletter. He has gotten price quotes from several printers and has talked to other people about their newsletter design. Kris Meek, our former newsletter designer, has said that she would be able to help Brodey with the newsletter. Brodey will contact the Boy Scouts and see when they will be able to deliver the newsletter.

We discussed our meeting time and decided to have our meetings at 7 pm going forward. Brodey said that the Mayor’s assistant, Tammy Ward, responded to his email about our concern over the possible loss of our recycling center next to the Fire Station.

Myrna said that she got an email from a gentleman from the hazardous waste center about adding information on dates for hazardous waste collection to the newsletter. Rose Klein said that she would like to add our sympathy for the loss in February of former webmaster Dan Staehr and last June of former president Tommy Taylor.

We adjourned at 7:30 pm. The next meeting will be Monday, March 15 at 7 pm at the HiPark Apartments Clubhouse.
