Highlands Neighborhood Association Minutes

January 20, 2020

Board members present: Myrna Coleman, Rod Hubbard, Jennifer Hellwege, Jim Klein, Rose Klein and Brodey Weber. Kris Meek excused.

The first order of business is Election of Officers:

President: Myrna Coleman was nominated by Rod Hubbard. No other nominations. Myrna Coleman is the President by acclamation.

Vice President: Rod Hubbard was nominated by Jim Klein. No other nominations. Rod Hubbard is the Vice President by acclamation.

Treasurer: Jim Klein was nominated by Rod Hubbard. No other nominations. Jim Klein is the Treasurer by acclamation.

Secretary: Rose Klein was nominated by Jim Klein. No other nominations. Rose Klein is the Secretary by acclamation.

Directors: Rod Hubbard nominated Kris Meek, Jennifer Hellwege and Brodey Weber as Directors. No other nominations. Kris Meek, Jennifer Hellwege and Brodey Weber are Directors by acclamation. Kris will continue as Public Relations Director. Jennifer will continue as Webmaster.

Rod Hubbard made a motion to accept the minutes of the last meeting as printed and emailed. Seconded by Jim Klein. Approved.

Jim Klein read the treasurer’s report. The Boy Scouts haven’t cashed their check and we haven’t gotten a bill from the printer yet. Rod Hubbard made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report and pay all pending bills. Seconded by Jennifer Hellwege. Approved.

Myrna Coleman asked the directors when they would be available this summer so she can schedule the Pool Party. The first choice of a date was Saturday, August 1, second choice was Sunday, August 2 and third choice was Saturday, July 25.

Myrna reported from the Mayor’s Round Table about a presentation for improvements to the Downtown Entryways District along O Street from 9th to 28th and 9th and 10th from K Street to the start of the I-180 Bridge. There is an LPS Special Bond Issue special election by mail asking voters to approve a $290 million bond issue to address building needs in the school district. Ballots must be received by February 11th.

Brodey Weber suggested that we could use the money we have won in Goodwill Challenges on renovation in the neighborhood. Jennifer Hellwege asked if we could make a goal of putting together a survey to put in the spring newsletter and on the website home page. Brodey asked us to come up with ideas for projects for the Goodwill money. Brodey said we could finalize the survey at the March meeting.

We adjourned at 8:35 pm. The next meeting is Monday, March 17 at 7:30 at the Fire Station.
