Meeting Minutes

Highlands Neighborhood Association Minutes

September 16, 2019

Board members present: Myrna Coleman, Rod Hubbard, Jennifer Hellwege, Jim Klein and Rose Klein. Kris Meek and Brodey Weber excused.

Rose Klein made a motion to accept the minutes of the last meeting as printed and emailed. Seconded by Rod Hubbard. Approved.

Jim Klein read the treasurer’s report. The Community Project Fund has a balance of $2,501.73. Lancaster Manor has not cashed their $100 check. Rose Klein made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report and pay all pending bills. Seconded by Rod Hubbard. Approved.

Pool Party wrap up: Although the weather was good the overall numbers were down from last year. Myrna Coleman reported the reason that the Fire Department did not come to the Pool Party. Myrna had okayed it with the Fire Chief’s office and got an email saying that they were coming, but the local Fire Station was not informed.

Jennifer Hellwege suggested that if we know in advance the door prizes that we are giving out to members at the Pool Party we could publicize it on the website and Facebook. We forgot to write down the winners of the door prizes. Rod Hubbard said that the water balloons we used for the balloon toss were great because they broke fairly quickly. Some years they are difficult to break.

The people who helped at the Pool Party were: Myrna Coleman, Rod and Skye Hubbard, Jennifer Hellwege, Kris Meek, Jim Klein, Rose Klein and Renee Minary. Myrna said special thanks to the Lincoln Highland’s Pool employees who were a big help.

In new business: Myrna reported that we won the $500 Spring Goodwill Challenge with 6,890 pounds of goods donated. Goodwill collected a total of 19,134 pounds in the Spring Challenge. The fall garage sales will be September 19-21. Jennifer Hellwege said that we only have 16 listings so far. The Fall Garage Sales Goodwill Pick-up will be Saturday the 21st from 1-5 pm.

Jennifer Hellwege said that she would contact Parks and Recreation for ideas for possible projects that we could use our Goodwill Challenge winnings on. She said that maybe we could get someone from Parks and Rec to come to one of our meetings.

Kris Meek will need stories for the winter newsletter. She needs them as soon as possible but especially by the end of November. The newsletter will need to be delivered early in December.

This meeting adjourned at 8:20 pm. The next meeting will be Monday, October 21 at 7:30 pm at the Fire Station.
