October 21, 2019

Board members present: Myrna Coleman, Rod Hubbard, Brodey Weber, Jim Klein and Rose Klein.

Rod Hubbard made a motion to accept the minutes of the last meeting as printed and emailed. Seconded by Jim Klein. Approved.

Jim Klein read the treasurer’s report. Rod Hubbard made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report and pay all pending bills. Seconded by Rose Klein. Approved.

The board discussed the possibility of using money we have received from winning Goodwill Challenges for either park improvement or a Highlands sign for a different area of the Highlands. Brodey suggested that if we do park improvement we turn the unveiling into some sort or ceremony/event. Then we could ask for corporate sponsorship to help expand our improvement possibilities. Brodey said he loves to do fundraising.

We also discussed ideas for where we could put a new Highlands sign. Possibilities are by Highway 34 and NW 1st, near the roundabout on NW 12th or North 1st and West Highlands Blvd. Myrna said that she would contact Mike Peterson with the city to get his input on requirements for a sign.

Kris Meek will need articles for the December newsletter. Brodey Weber suggested that he could get local elected officials to write an introduction article for the newsletter. City Council representative for our district, Tammy Ward would like to put in her contact information and tell us what improvements the city is doing. Brodey also suggested doing a history of the Highlands or doing a spotlight on a neighbor in the Highlands or local businesses.

This meeting adjourned at 8:30 pm. The next meeting will be on Monday, November 18 at 7:30 pm at the Fire Station.
