Meeting Minutes

Highlands Neighborhood Association Minutes

November 19, 2018

Board members present: Myrna Coleman, Jennifer Hellwege, Rose Klein, Jim Klein and Kris Meek. Rod Hubbard excused.

Kris Meek made a motion to accept the minutes of the last meeting as emailed and printed. Seconded by Jim Klein. Approved.

Jim Klein read the treasurer’s report. He received a letter from the Nebraska Department of Revenue stating that we have not reported any taxable sales in the previous 18 months and our Sales Tax Permit should be cancelled. We will cancel the permit as we no longer have any use for it. Rose Klein made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report and pay all pending bills. Seconded by Jim Klein. Approved.

Old business: Boy Scouts will deliver the December newsletter on the 7th. Kris will take the proof to the printer to be printed within the next week. She still needs articles for the newsletter.

Myrna Coleman and Jennifer Hellwege met with JJ Yost and Maggie Stuckey of Parks and Recreation to discuss ideas for Highland’s park improvements. Perhaps we could use the $1,900 we have accumulated from Goodwill Pick-up winnings to pay for a new slide in the North Park.

Street repair: The street-widening from the intersection of NW 1st and Fletcher up to Hwy 34 is supposed to be done by Christmas. This will include turn lanes right off Hwy 34 into the Highlands and right off NW 1st onto Hwy 34. NW 12th street at the roundabout was briefly closed.

We adjourned at 8:15.The next meeting is Monday, January 21 at 7:30 at the Fire Station. It is the Election Meeting. (There was no December meeting because several of the board members were out of town.)
