Meeting Minutes

Highlands Neighborhood Association Minutes

April 16, 2018

Board members present: Myrna Coleman, Rod Hubbard, Jim Klein, Rose Klein and Kris Meek.

Myrna Coleman announced that David Staenberg resigned from the board to spend more time with family and his Smile Out Loud Foundation. We will miss his enthusiasm and new ideas.

Kris Meek made a motion to accept the minutes of the last meeting as emailed and printed. Seconded by Rod Hubbard. Approved.

Jim Klein read the treasurer’s report. LKN Food Plaza still needs to pay $200 for their spring ad. Rod Hubbard made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report and pay all pending bills. Seconded by Rose Klein. Approved.

Myrna Coleman brought up old business to review the Egg Hunt. Rod suggested that we place less eggs in the toddler section. The toddlers are really slow and hold up the older groups. Myrna said that she will mix up the types of candy so that little kids get a mixture in case the people at Lancaster Manor who stuff the eggs don’t put a mixture in each egg. Some of the bags of eggs had all the same kind of candy.

Myrna said that she found good sales on toys and baskets for next year. Rod suggested we find something else for the older kids to do other than the egg toss. Rod said that he will not call the egg toss any more. Rose said that we lost one of our Highland’s sawhorse signs before the Egg Hunt. When she went to pick it up it was gone. Now we have only two meeting signs left.

Myrna said that she will call Mark Canney of Parks and Recreation to get other ideas for park projects that we could spend our Goodwill Drop-off winnings on. Someone suggested a sand volleyball pit in the park.

Myrna would like to schedule a meeting with public works and the neighborhood to discuss work on the stretch of Fletcher up the hill to Highway 34. HNA member Pat Hoffschneider wanted to know if we could do anything about cleaning up yards that back up to Fletcher through the Highlands. The city has an app called UP LNK where you can complain about eyesores.

We adjourned at 8:30 pm. The next meeting is Monday, May 21 at 7:30 pm at the Fire Station.
