Lina Jansson

I am an associate professor of philosophy at the University of Nottingham. Before moving to Nottingham, I worked at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.  

I did my PhD at the University of Michigan and my undergraduate degree at Oxford University.  More recently, I completed an MSc in Gravity, Particles, and Fields in the school of Mathematics and Physics at Nottingham. 

I work in philosophy of science, philosophy of physics, and the history and philosophy of science.  Most of my work involves issues surrounding the nature and role of scientific explanation.  At the moment, I am working on the role of explanation in confirmation in a project in collaboration with the Gravity Laboratory. 

I have been an associate editor for Studies in History and Philosophy of Science.  Before that I was the honorary treasurer for the British Society for the Philosophy of Science.  I have been a mentor as part of the Job Candidate Mentoring Program for Women in Philosophy. 

I grew up in Sweden, and I still enjoy reading Swedish literature.
