Hi Delegates!
My name is Kennedy Spivey, a junior at LAMP, and I’m so excited to serve as your Special Political and Decolonization Committee (SPECPOL) chair this year! We have some massive global issues to tackle, so get ready for an unforgettable committee experience filled with intense debate and, of course, plenty of fun along the way!
SPECPOL is the Fourth Committee of the UN General Assembly, which basically means we handle all the chaotic topics the other three committees avoid. From decolonization and refugee crises to atomic radiation, if it’s globally complex, it’s our job to fix it!
Now for a little bit about me! This is my second year in MUN, and last year I was a delegate just like y’all, serving in the ICC. Outside of school, I love horses and I own one named Chico (shameless plug: go follow him on Insta!). We used to compete in rodeo before I fully committed to Speech and Debate, my favorite hobby. I’m an Oratory kid at heart, which has let me travel everywhere from Harvard to Richmond to showcase my speeches. I also love food, so you can totally expect plenty of candy in committee! My favorite food of all time is definitely a seafood boil (call me big, I don’t care). Lastly, my favorite TV Show is Criminal Minds, and I am highly determined to finish all 20 seasons.
I can’t wait to meet everyone and let’s make SPECPOL just as special as I know all of you are!
See you in January,
Kennedy Spivey
