Privacy Policy
Effective Date: April 7, 2025
Welcome to the Privacy Policy. This policy explains how we collect and use your data, and how you can control your information. Want a brief overview of our privacy practices? Check out this page or watch this video. If you're looking for specific product privacy information, such as how we handle your chats and apps, visit our product privacy pages. In addition to these documents, we will also display in-app notifications to provide you with more information about the products and services we provide.
Transparency is one of our core values at App. We believe that there should be no surprises about the data we collect and how we use it, which is why we are very upfront about how we process data. For example, we process your information to provide a more personalized experience, including showing you the content and information most relevant to your experience, as well as more relevant ads. Understanding your interests and preferences helps us provide you with a better product experience.
In addition, we believe that personalized experiences should not come at the expense of your privacy. Just like in real life, there are times when you want to share content privately with close friends, and other times when you want to share publicly. That’s why from the beginning, our philosophy has been to remove content by default and give app users control over their content by providing tools, such as the ability to decide who to share with or when to save.
This policy covers our apps and other products, services, and features. In addition, if you see us mention "Terms," we mean the Terms of Service that you agreed to when you signed up for our services. Finally, if you see the term, we generally use it as a shorthand for any user of our services.
Now, let's get started with the controls you have over your information:
Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CASE)
1. Our Commitment
We are committed to protecting children's safety and preventing any form of sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, and related harmful behaviors. Our apps comply with all applicable laws and regulations as well as the "Child Safety Standards" policy, always putting children's safety and rights first.
2. Scope of application
These standards apply to all users and related content, including but not limited to user-generated content, interactive behaviors, reporting mechanisms, and content review. Our goal is to create a safe and inclusive social environment and provide additional protection for underage users.
3. Core measures
3.1. Strict age limit:
We require users to confirm their age when registering and take additional protection measures for minors, including restricting the use of certain features.
3.2. Content review:
All user-generated content (UGC) is reviewed manually and algorithmically to prevent any content containing sexual abuse, sexual exploitation or inappropriate behavior from appearing on the platform.
3.3. User Code of Conduct:
Any sexual behavior, language or other forms of inappropriate behavior involving children on the platform is prohibited. Once discovered, we will take immediate action and report to the relevant authorities.
3.4. Reporting and response mechanism:
Provide user-friendly reporting tools to facilitate any user to quickly report suspicious content or behavior. Our professional team will handle relevant issues within 24 hours after receiving the report.
3.5. Cooperation and reporting:
We work with child protection organizations and law enforcement agencies to ensure that all suspected cases of sexual abuse and sexual exploitation are investigated and reported in a timely manner.
4. Accountability and Transparency
We regularly update and disclose our policies and measures related to child protection, and disclose our implementation and improvement plans to users through an annual transparency report.
5. Contact Us
If you find any content or behavior involving child sexual abuse or exploitation, please contact us through the following ways
Control your information
Having control over your information and settings is a core component of the App experience. You can access, update and delete your information, decide who can contact you, and download your data from the App. Here, we will explain more details about the types of settings available, link to our data download tool, and provide instructions on how to delete your data or close your account.
We want you to control your information, so we provide you with a series of tools, including:
Access and update your information. You can access and edit most basic account information directly in our services. You can just navigate to your settings page to see the available options.
Delete your information. If you want to delete your account, learn how to do it here. You can also delete some information in our services, such as: content saved in memories, content shared with my AI, content submitted to the spotlight, and more.
Control who can see your content. We provide a variety of tools that let you choose who you share your content with. In some cases, you may want to share content with friends, while in other cases, you may want to share it with the public. For more information, visit here.
Control who can contact you. Apps are meant to be used to stay connected with close friends and family, so we provide controls to help you decide who can contact you. If you receive unwanted communications, you can always block and report the user. Visit here to learn more.
Change your permissions. In most cases, you can change your permission settings at any time. For example, by default, you can find people by the phone number and/or email address you provide. If you no longer want to be found, you can change your settings at any time. Or, if you provide access to your phone or third-party platform contacts to make it easier to make friends, you can change this later in the app settings. Of course, if you do this, some features and services, such as finding people in your contact list, will not work properly.
Opt out of promotional messages. You can choose not to receive or unsubscribe from promotional messages and messages sent via email, SMS or other messaging platforms. To do so, simply follow the instructions in the message, such as clicking an unsubscribe link or similar feature.
Download your data. You can request an export copy of your App information in our Download My Data tool.
Object to processing. Depending on where you live and the specific data we are processing, you may have rights to object to our processing of that information. This can get a little technical, so we explain it in more detail here.
Ad preferences. We try to show you ads that are relevant to your interests, but if you prefer a less personalized experience, you can change your ad settings in the Snapchat app. Read more here.
We recognize that third parties’ use of your personal information is a significant concern for social media users, so we have developed this Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) to inform you about our use of personal information (“Personal Information”).
This Policy applies to your use of the App. We encourage you to read it together with our Terms and Conditions (the “Terms and Conditions”). By accessing or using the App, you accept our Privacy Policy and consent to our collection, storage, use and disclosure of your Personal Information as described in this Policy.
