JULIE (Joint Utility Locating Information for Excavators) has been protecting Illinois communities for more than 45 years by providing a free notification service for homeowners and professional excavators to use to request the location of underground utilities before they dig. With nearly 2,000 members in Illinois, the not-for-profit organization covers the entire state outside the City of Chicago. As a reminder JULIE does not mark or own underground utilities. JULIE is a free service.

State law requires you to notify JULIE at least 2 but not more than 14 business days before any digging project regardless of the project size or depth. Even if you are digging in the same area as a previous project, notify JULIE first.

After you receive email confirmation from JULIE, utility members locate and mark underground utility lines on your property with colored paint and flags. They may mark an All Clear with a painted OK or contact you if nothing is in conflict with your site. Make sure you are notified by all utilities listed on your ticket before digging and never dig until the date and time indicated on your confirmation.

NOTE: The course drop process during the first two weeks of the semester remains the same as before, with tuition cancellation available only for classes dropped in the first two weeks of the term.

Withdrawing from courses can have adverse financial aid implications and other consequences. So, know the consequences before withdrawing. In order to receive financial aid, students must make satisfactory academic progress (SAP). For complete details, please consult the Office of Financial Aid.

Effective August 3, 2023, all fees for Wayne State University applications administered through the Graduate School are eliminated for all academic terms beginning with the winter 2024 semester. Please note this does not apply to Wayne State University programs administered outside the Graduate School such as J.D., M.D., and Pharm.D. programs. Refunds are not issued for any fees paid before August 3, 2023.

You should not apply for a graduate school term that begins before you expect to receive your bachelor's degree. You will be required to provide proof of your bachelor's degree during your first term of graduate enrollment. Failure to do so could result in discontinuation of enrollment.

To expedite the processing, review, and decision of your graduate application, you may upload unofficial (personal copy) transcripts to your application. If admitted, you must request to have official transcripts sent to the Office of Graduate Admissions for each institution. Official transcripts can be sent electronically via email to gradadmissions@wayne.edu. Our school code is 1898. If your sending institution is not able to send an official transcript electronically, it can be mailed to:

Your application is considered complete once you have submitted all documents to satisfy both the university's minimum requirements and your program's specific requirements. Information about our program's requirements can be found on the program's website. It is the responsibility of the applicant to make sure the required materials are uploaded before the deadline.

You can upload the required materials directly to your application via your application status page. This page can be accessed by visiting gradslate.wayne.edu/apply and logging in with the credentials provided to you when you first applied. You are not required to mail the Office of Graduate Admissions any of your documents unless specifically requested to do so.

The best way to contact us is by email at gradadmissions@wayne.edu. However, if you wish to speak with someone in person, you may call the Office of Graduate Admissions at 313-577-4723. You may also visit our office during our regular business hours; no appointment is necessary. A staff member will be available to assist you with any general inquiries regarding the application process.

WSU uses both your ACT/SAT scores and Placement tests, which have been designed to ensure that you have the required prior knowledge before taking a class. It is better to be placed into a lower-level course by an examination than to fail a higher-level course for which you are not adequately prepared.

Strive to do your best by reviewing the material on the websites indicated and getting plenty of rest the night before any exams you take. For more information about individual placement exams, see the Placement and competency exams pages.

Your ACT/SAT scores will be used for placement in the appropriate biology and math courses if you provide them as part of your admissions application. ACT/SAT scores cannot be used for chemistry placement. If you have ACT/SAT scores that you did not submit for admission but would like used for placement, please submit these scores to Admissions, admissions@wayne.edu, and they will post your scores for your academic advisor to review.

However, AP scores are not published until July, meaning students waiting on AP scores are likely to have already attended orientation and registered for fall semester classes before receiving results. The placement tests can help inform accurate course placement before the AP scores are available. If your AP score places you in a higher course or earns you credit for a course you've enrolled in, you can work with your academic advisor to change your schedule in July and August.

If you have a documented disability that requires testing accommodations, register with Student Disability Services for coordination of accommodations. Student Disability Services (SDS) is located at 1600 David Adamany Undergraduate Library in the University Advising Center. SDS is available at 313-577-1851 and studentdisability.wayne.edu.

We recommend parking in a University structure. Students are not allowed to leave a test session to add money to a parking meter. Visitor parking structures require payment by credit or one card. Further information is available at maps.wayne.edu and parking.wayne.edu.

The Testing Office must post a Permit to Register in the student records system before you can register for a Biology, Chemistry, or Math course. If more than one week has passed since you received your test results and you are still unable to add your course, please email testing@wayne.edu.

Any questions about which placement exams you should take or how other test scores or incoming credits might impact your placement should be directed to your assigned academic advisor. Questions regarding how to schedule an exam or exam administration should be directed to the Testing Office at testing@wayne.edu or 313-577-3400.

An inspection is required at various stages of the construction process. The first inspection would probably be a footing inspection before any concrete is poured. If a slab is involved, any plumbing and/or electric installed under that slab would also need inspecting before concrete is poured. The next inspection would be the rough-in inspection, which includes the framing, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and gas systems before any drywall is installed. This inspection also includes fireplaces. Sometime between this inspection and the final, an Equipment Check is required to get permanent power on the structure. Last is the final inspection of the framing, plumbing, electrical and HVAC.

Students currently excluded may appeal for reinstatement to the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts (CFPCA) after not attending classes at Wayne State University for one calendar year. Dismissed students may apply for reinstatement the semester before their 12 month dismissal period is up, to allow for a decision to be made by the reinstatement committee. For example, if you were dismissed in Fall 2021, you could apply for reinstatement in Fall 2022 for a possible Winter 2023 return.

Wayne State University (WSU) must remove all electronic waste on campus as universal waste. All WSU-owned electronic waste must be returned to WSU for proper handling and processing prior to recycling. Electronic waste may contain WSU proprietary data, and may contain materials that are regulated under environmental, health and safety laws; therefore, WSU electronic waste may NEVER be disposed of in the trash or outside of WSUs process. For data bearing electronics, we recommend you do a secure wipe on devices before recycling and remove micro-SD, SIM or memory cards.

Most lab equipment requires decontamination before removal from the laboratory and recycling. Please follow the steps below before having material moved to the Property Warehouse (1200 Holden). For laboratory equipment contaminated with or containing highly hazardous materials such as mercury, asbestos, radioactive materials, toxic heavy metals etc. contact OEHS at (313) 577-1200 for specific disposal requirements.
