Normal Types don’t get the respect they deserve. You can say that they’re bland and lack distinguishing characteristics, but the truth is that they’re adaptable. They don’t veer into extremes. Unlike some other types, they aren’t caricatures of a handful of traits. They’re even-keeled. Complex. Chit-chatting with a normal is comforting and yet stimulating. They’re the perfect new buddy.

A Normal Type looks out for their own safety and comfort first and foremost. They have a “neutral” alignment. They may seem free of ideology, not committed to ideals. But that’s because their worldview is highly practical and concrete. Normals live in the here and now. They are fabulous at accepting reality on its own terms. Consequently, many Normal Types are very well adjusted and happy, and let most of life’s bullshit slide down their back.

Pokémon Subtype: Water

• Collen was the son of immigrants. His mother is from Brazil, his father is from Cuba, and he grew up speaking a mixture of Portuguese and Spanish at home. He is extremely close to his family, and they’ve always been supportive of him and his music. 

• Before he was born, his parents managed to save up enough buy a small cafe down in Orlando, and he spent a huge chunk of his childhood helping out in the family business. He still works there whenever he’s home, despite his successful music career.

• Collen has a heart of gold, always trying his best to be a shoulder to lean on for the rest of his friend group, and his band. For the most part, I consider him a "do no evil, but take no shit muse" - if you do something wrong, he'll very politely go "hey, can we talk about this What's going on with you?" and try to put you on the correct path again without getting confrontational about it. For the most part, he's amongst mellowest of my muses.

• He loves making people laugh, if he can, he'll try to.

• Collen is a practicing Reform Jew, this means you won’t be seeing him celebrating Christmas or Easter. (He does hope you have a great time, though). This also means he tends to eat only vegetarian and vegan foods when he’s out and about, in an attempt to remain as kosher as he can be. 

• He's very much a comic book / video game fan, and will happily discuss them and engage with you about them if you bring them up in conversation. In particular, he's a huge fan of both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, although anything Spider-Man related he's more than happy to try at least once. He even named his cat Gwen Stacey, after, after Spider-Gwen.

• He has a band called Collen and the Winter Panda. (Lead singer, occasional guitarist). When he’s not on tour / making new music, he’s usually filming youtube videos for the diy channel he shares with his step-cousin, Ches.

• His best friend growing up was Ceylan, and once they hit high school, the two started to date. The night that she ran away, she asked him to go with him, and he refused. After her body was discovered, it absolutely destroyed him (and it's still a trauma he's working on in therapy). He still carries the guilt that he didn't go with her to this day, even if he never really discusses it.

• Ever since Ceylan's death, he's found writing music to be way more difficult then it used to be. While it's been getting better over the years, as he's healed from his trauma, any fans paying attention are quick to pick up on the majority of the band's music that Collen writes is about her still to this day.
