Because they have easy-going, loving personalities, Water Types can be mistaken for lacking intellect or intensity. This isn’t really fair. Waters are sensitive and emotional, and it’s on an emotional level that most of their thinking and processing occurs. • Ceylan grew up in the cult of Scientology, and while never officially declared a suppressive person, her parents have been blaming her for the issues (no matter how small) in her family for literally as long as she could remember. If her parents had a fight? It was 100% her fault. If the car broke down? "Ceylan, how DARE you" etc etc etc. Her twin brother got sick? You know they blamed Ceylan. So she's got a lot of trauma she's working through in therapy.

• Obviously, she does not share her parent's beliefs and is firmly against the cult. In verses where she's alive, she's 100% out of it and both her, and her twin brother, are no contact with their parents.

• Cey grew up next door to Collen and his family, and she used to hide over there a lot of the time. It was Collen's parents who scraped together the money for her cello lessons, and she used to practice at his house (due to the fact she figured her parents would react poorly because they reacted poorly to everything she did). The two started to date in high school, and dated right up until the night that Ceylan ran away.

• She ran away from home at the age of fifteen without a penny to her name and just the clothes on her back, and for the first time in her life, she felt safe (even though looking back on it now, she wasn't physically safe at all). This changed one day when she met someone while working at a diner under the table, a man, and he wouldn't take no for an answer when he asked her out.

• That person ended up murdering her not long after meeting her, while I definitely am not going to go into detail here out of respect and care, it's considered to be a gruesome case (and it was severely mishandled by the police). She's not open to discussing it. Most of her afterlife has honestly been spent working through the trauma of her upbringing and her death. 

• Despite everything that happened, Ceylan is extremely friendly. She falls in love with pretty much everyone who shows her the slightest of kindness and just tries so hard to see the good in the world. The issue is, most people can't see her.

• That being said, she gets very offended if you insult the people she cares about. Whether or not she'll visibly react depends on the situation / who is insulting them (if it's another person she cares about, she'll definitely be extremely cautious with how she phrases things, if it's someone she isn't close to - she doesn't even react because you're not safe to express emotions in front of, and if they can't see her, she'll react by throwing stuff.)

• She's a lot angrier after her death, and she really doesn't have a good basis on how to handle emotions given a huge part of her upbringing was teaching her to simply not feel them. She also isn't always capable of expressing them, she's trying her best, but there's a lot more unlearning to be had for her.
