Basically, I am trying to take a screenshot of a mesh so that I can render it as a texture in my inventory. So I have a blank level and I have put my item mesh in it with a camera looking at it and in my level blueprit I have it set to look at the item and take the screenshot, all that is fine. My problem is with lighting the level so that the item can be seen, realistically I am trying to get a white background (the item is black) so I can cut it in PS.

Obviously with no light, the item isnt visible, the whole viewport is black. I have tried sticking in a spotlight and a directional light but that creates a scheen/bright reflective light that ruins the screenshot.

At some point, I selected a folder to save a screenshot from Lightshot. Since then, all screens save there. I found that folder by Recent files view, but that tool doesn't allow me to change (or simply delete) Lightshot default saves folder - or I don't know how it allows me to do so.

To change it, do not use the hotkey for the first time. Instead, click on the Save button and save the screenshot to wherever you want. After that, all screenshots will be automatically saved to that folder with any hotkey.

The issue is when I use Cmd-Shift-5 to select a region of the screen to capture. The expected PNG file is not saved to the Desktop, and the area outside the area I selected for the screenshot stays dimmed. The only way to get the screen back is to reboot which, of course, is incredibly disruptive.

Switching spaces, doing another screenshot attempt, hitting the hot corner that activates my screensaver does not clear this issue. Subsequent screenshot attempts using Cmd-Shift-4 or Cmd-Shift-5 do produce a screenshot PNG on the Desktop, however, it's inflicted with the light/dim effect that was left from the initial attempt. The light/dim areas are also shown when doing a whole-screen screenshot using Cmd-Shift-3.

I have set the night light mode to the strongest value and Windows looks orange or amber. Is there a way to create a screenshot capturing how Windows looks in those colors? I tried to use GIMP to manipulate the color of the captured image but didn't even got close as how it looks in night light mode.

I have found ksnip - very good screenshot tool with edit and annotate features, that available on Linux/Windows/MacOS! It have classic user interface, based on Qt, and all modern features, such as editing, cropping, annotate with arrows and text (with allow to drag/edit later), upload to imgur.com, etc.

The dark corner is a result of the JPG format selected when configuring screenshot capture. If PNG is selected, the background is blank. Unlike the macOS system screenshot, BTT compresses the PNG, with a comparable size to JPG. The compression makes the PNG format viable in terms of file size.

So i'm using rectangle light for this background (and similar errors occur in other places) , but it turned out not fully lighted. As you can see on the preview image below that the light only brighten the center area of what it should be doing is lighten the entire area as where i put the rectangle light (screenshot also attached). I have tried to replace it with a new rec light, tried to close and reopen the file, and tried restarting my pc, but still doesn't work. What's the issue here? And how can i fix it?

I'm not sure which CAD solution you are using, but if it's SketchUp in this case then we also highly reccomend only using the provided sliders for our lights instead of adjusting light lengths and so forth via SketchUp instead.

An alternative, depending on the scene, may then be placing more rect/line lights to give the impression of one single long light, and/or making use of self-emissive materials which can also simulate different lights rather well depending on the context. Make sure to not only use self-emissive surfaces to light your scene though as that can lead to visible lighting artifacts.
