# LiftSmart Privacy Policy
**Last updated: September 20, 2026**
We respect your privacy. This policy explains how LiftSmart handles your information.
LiftSmart app, No account, login, or sign-up is required to use the app.
---
## The short version
- Your workout data lives on your device and in **your own iCloud account**. We can't see it.
- Heart rate from Apple Health is shown during a workout and then discarded. It is never saved, never synced, never shared.
- Location is used only to fetch current weather, and only while you're using the app.
- The **only** information that ever reaches us is what you type into the Send Feedback screen.
- No ads, no analytics, no trackers, no third-party SDKs. We never sell your data.
---
## Information stored on your device
LiftSmart saves the following on your device so the app works between launches:
- Routines and workout history (exercises, sets, reps, weights, durations, personal records)
- Profile details you enter: name, birth year, body weight, height, goals, units preference
- Progress entries: body weight, body fat percentage, waist measurement, notes, and up to three progress photos per entry
- Per-exercise notes
- Gym Keys: card names, membership codes, notes, and any card or barcode image you save
- Timer, notification, and display preferences
This information is stored in LiftSmart's own private app storage. TechTodd does not operate a server that receives it.
## iCloud sync
So your data survives a reinstall or a move to a new iPhone, LiftSmart writes a copy of the information listed above to **your personal iCloud account**, in a private app container tied to your Apple Account.
- This is your iCloud storage, not ours. TechTodd cannot read, access, or recover it.
- Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's own privacy policy and iCloud terms.
- If you turn off iCloud Drive for LiftSmart in iOS Settings, the app keeps working and stores data only on your device.
## Health data (Apple Health / HealthKit)
If you grant permission, LiftSmart reads **heart rate samples only** from Apple Health, and only while a workout session is open.
- Access is **read-only**. LiftSmart never writes anything to Apple Health.
- Heart rate is used solely to display your current BPM during a workout and your average and maximum BPM on that workout's summary screen.
- Heart rate data is held in memory for the duration of the session and **discarded when the session ends**. It is not saved to your device's workout history, is not included in the iCloud sync described above, and is never transmitted anywhere.
- Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, never shared with third parties, never sold, and never used for any purpose other than displaying it back to you.
- You can grant or revoke this permission at any time in Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices, or in Settings › Privacy & Security › Health. LiftSmart works normally without it.
## Location and weather
If you grant permission, LiftSmart requests your approximate location (accurate to roughly one kilometer) **while you are using the app** in order to show current weather conditions on the Home screen.
- Location is used at the moment of the request and is **not stored, not logged, and not transmitted to TechTodd**.
- Weather data is provided by **Apple Weather** via Apple's WeatherKit service. Apple receives the location associated with the weather request and handles it under Apple's privacy policy. See Apple's WeatherKit data terms at https://weatherkit.apple.com/legal-attribution.html
- You can deny or revoke location access at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services. The rest of the app is unaffected; you simply won't see weather.
## Camera and photos
LiftSmart accesses your camera or photo library only when you explicitly choose to add an image — a progress photo or a gym membership card or barcode.
- The app receives only the specific images you select or capture.
- Those images are stored with your other app data, which means they are included in the iCloud sync described above (in your own iCloud account).
- Images are never uploaded to TechTodd and are never shared with anyone.
- You can delete any image from within the app.
## Feedback you send us
This is the only feature that sends information to TechTodd. If you open **Profile › Send feedback** and tap Send, the following is submitted:
- Your message
- Your reply-to email address, **only if you choose to enter one** (the field is optional)
- Your LiftSmart version and build number
- Your iOS version and device model (for example, "iPhone17,1")
This is submitted through Apple's CloudKit to a database in our developer container, and is used only to read your feedback, reproduce bugs, and reply to you if you asked for a reply. It is not used for marketing, is not shared with anyone, and is not sold. Nothing is sent unless you tap Send.
To have a feedback submission deleted, email us at the address below.
## Notifications
LiftSmart uses **local notifications only** — rest-timer alerts and reminders that a workout session is still running. These are scheduled on your device by the app. There is no push notification server, and no device token is ever sent to us.
## What we don't do
- We do not use analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or attribution SDKs.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not request App Tracking Transparency permission.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information.
- LiftSmart contains no third-party libraries. It uses only Apple frameworks.
## Children's privacy
LiftSmart is suitable for general audiences and complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under the age of digital consent in your region). If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the feedback form, contact us and we will delete it.
## Data retention and deletion
- **On-device and iCloud data:** you can delete individual routines, workouts, progress entries, photos, and gym keys from within the app at any time. Deleting the app removes its local data; to also remove the iCloud copy, go to Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Account Storage and delete LiftSmart's data.
- **Feedback submissions:** retained until we no longer need them to respond or fix the reported issue, or until you ask us to delete them.
## Security
Data on your device is protected by iOS file protection and your device passcode. Data synced to iCloud and feedback sent through CloudKit are encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we limit risk by collecting as little as possible — and by not operating a server that holds your workout data at all.
## International users
LiftSmart is operated from the United States. Feedback you submit is processed on Apple's CloudKit infrastructure. Your workout data stays in your own iCloud account and is stored wherever Apple stores your iCloud data.
## Changes to this policy
If we change how LiftSmart handles data, we will update this policy and revise the "Last updated" date above.
