International Conference
Lifelong Learning for a Sustainable Future:
Environment. Economy. Society
6-8 January 2025
Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kerala, India
Recent experiences with climate change and marginalisation of populations all over the world have posed serious questions to the idea of development, predominating global dynamics over several decades. While the human race plans for a promising future, threats to the environment and subsequent climate change, optimum economic growth pushing everything else to a lower priority, and societal development without equal opportunities and marginalisation of the disadvantaged populations pose major concerns. A solution can be found by empowering individuals through constant learning. Such learning should enable individuals to deal with the constantly arising challenges by making them competent to take ownership of creating a sustainable future for themselves. While doing this, they need to have a responsible attitude towards the planet and the society.
The International Conference on Lifelong Learning for a Sustainable Future: Environment. Economy. Society aims to explore the interconnectedness between Lifelong Learning, and different aspects of sustainability — namely the environment, the economy, and the society. The conference is going to bring together scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and other stakeholders to discuss innovative approaches including good practices, innovation, research, policy inputs and the like towards achieving a sustainable future and will be held at the Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kerala, India. The conference will foster partnerships among stakeholders from all over the world interested to work with South Asia for promoting Lifelong Learning followed by the formal release of the Declaration for Promoting Lifelong Learning for a Sustainable Future in the South Asia Region, 2025 and celebrating 8th of January as the Lifelong Learning Day endorsed by ASEM LLL Hub.
