被写体と撮影者の間にテーマとして球体を介在させ、何か「Something new」を引き出そうと試みたポートレイト撮影における実験的な作品群です。アナログでのプリント技法も当時として作者が知りうる限りのテクニックを駆使し、プリントしております。また、アーカイバルとしてもセレニュームトーニングしております。 当初は「日本の文化人」として撮影を開始しています。写真展はそのままのタイトルでまた、月刊朝日では「松尾忠男の球体写真館」として２年間連載しました。写真集として出版した時に「プロメテウスの肖像」というタイトルに変更しました。日本の文化人１０４人のポートレイトシリーズです。
The Portrait of Prometheans
A series of experimental portrait photographic works that bring out "something new" by setting a sphere as the theme between the subject and the photographer. As for analog printing technology, I make use of everything the author knew at the time to print. It is also produced as an archive by serenium toning. Initially, I started shooting as a "Japanese cultural figure". We will hold a photo exhibition for the second consecutive year under the same name as the monthly magazine Asahi "Tadao Matsuo Sphere Photo Studio". When I published it as a photo book, I named it "Portrait of Promethean". This is a series of portraits of 104 Japanese cultural figures.
