Privacy Policy — Library For All Effective date: June 2026 Operator: Narayan Kunjam (sole admin & founder)

Library For All ("we", "us", "the app") is a free, community-run, non-commercial book-sharing platform built for readers across India. We believe in collecting the minimum data necessary to make books move between people. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what control you have over it.

1. Information we collect

When you use Library For All, we collect:

From Google Sign-In: your Google account name, email address, and profile picture.

Approximate location: only after you grant Location permission, we use your GPS coordinates to compute an approximate city/distance so we can match you with books and readers nearby. We do not track you in the background.

Books you list: title, author, condition, category, sub-category, description, the photos you upload (up to 4 per book), purpose (educational / reading), and pickup or mailing preference.

Phone number: only if you choose to add one to a donation listing or book request.

Notification token: a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device token, used solely to deliver push notifications related to your activity (requests, queue updates, admin actions).

Reports you submit: when you flag a book or another user for Inappropriate content, Copyright violation, Harassment, or Other reason, we store the report content for admin review.

2. How we use your data

To show you books nearby and notify you when someone interacts with your listings or requests.

To share your phone number with the other party only after a request is accepted, so pickup or mailing can be arranged offline.

To keep the platform safe — reviewing reports and taking action on listings or accounts that violate our Terms.

To improve the app. We never sell your data and we do not run advertising.

3. Who can see what

Public to other readers: your first name, profile picture, the books you donate, and the city you are in (not your exact GPS coordinates).

Private by default: your email and phone number. Your phone number is only revealed to the other party after a book request is accepted by the holder.

Visible to the admin: any content you post (books, photos, reports). The admin may remove books or suspend accounts that violate our Terms.

4. Permissions used on your device

Location — only while using the app, to find books near you. You can turn it off in your phone settings any time; the app keeps working with reduced relevance.

Camera & Photos — asked only when you tap Donate and want to attach a book photo (up to 4 per book).

Notifications — optional; used to alert you about requests, queue updates, and reminders.

We never request all permissions at once. Each is requested in context, when you take the action that requires it.

5. Storage and security

Your data is stored on our secure servers (MongoDB) and accessed only over HTTPS. Authentication is handled via Google OAuth — we never see or store your Google password.

6. Third-party services we use

We rely on the following processors who handle data on our behalf. Their respective privacy policies apply:

Google — Sign-In and identity (https://policies.google.com/privacy)

Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) — push notification delivery (https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy)

SuprSend — notification orchestration (https://www.suprsend.com/privacy)

We do not share your data with advertisers and we have no analytics SDK in the app beyond what the platforms above require for their respective services.

7. Children

Library For All is intended for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has registered, we will delete the account.

8. Your choices and rights

You can edit or remove any book you have donated, before it has been requested.

You can revoke Location, Camera, Photo, or Notification permissions any time from your phone settings.

You can request deletion of your account and personal data by emailing us. We will remove your account within a reasonable period. Books that have already been passed on to other readers remain in circulation, as is the nature of a book chain.

9. Data retention

Active account data is retained while your account is active.

Reports and admin records are retained for up to 24 months for safety auditing.

Deleted accounts and books are removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by Indian law.

10. Updates to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted inside the app. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
