Lakeside Lancers Water Polo

IMPORTANT COVID-19 MANDATORY TESTING INFORMATION

As we very much look forward to the potential for an “all clear” for the 2020-2021 water polo seasons, I have some very important information for you. All water polo athletes must have a COVID test each week on Tuesday at Lakeside High in order to practice or participate in any way. I have attached a link at the bottom of this email with pertinent information about the testing. All people being tested must complete a one-time online registration by Monday March 1st at 12:00 noon, as well as bring two copies of the attached forms each week.

Water Polo Groups

Please click on red link below and follow these instructions :

Click on "School District COVID testing" then go to Athletes COVID testing. Complete this form for the initial registration (only need to do this once). There are two other forms, linked below, the individual will need to bring with them when they are tested, that is the "Permission to Test" and the "History" forms (must bring these forms each time the individual is tested). They recommend completing the form on-line to ensure correct information (some handwriting is not clear).

Our 2020-21 water polo seasons for both the boys and girls teams has been modified due to the current quarantine in place in California. Both teams are expected to play their seasons this winter. We are currently unable to train as a team. When the quarantine is lifted and we are able to get back in the pool I will be notifying the team using our remind app. You can join our remind group using the links below:

Welcome New Lancers,

We look forward to having you join our Water Polo family for the upcoming season. You will have the time of your life working with a great group of student-athletes on a highly rewarding journey during your time at Lakeside High School. We will be working towards our goals of earning Lakeside’s first CIF Championship in Water Polo this season.

To provide our team with the tools that we will need to attain this goal, we will be starting our Summer Training Program at a time to be determined after the current pandemic restrictions are clarified. This will include 4 days a week of activity, including weight training, pool practices and summer league games/tournaments. As an incoming freshman it is important that you take part in this opportunity to train with our team. The conditioning level required to compete at the High School level in Water Polo is intense and you will be far better served to build it up this summer. The opportunity to play in these summer league games will also be invaluable experience for you to carry into the Fall (Boys) and Winter (Girls) Seasons.

Practice will require you to have an appropriate suit, which ideally would be a polo-style suit, but for the girls a one-piece suit with a high back is also acceptable. Boys can wear regular trunks or jammers. You should have a pair of swimming goggles, a towel and an outfit appropriate for lifting weights in (including a pair of athletic shoes).

If you have any questions please feel free to contact us.

Thank you,

Coach Morrow & Coach vanBreemen
