The leadership team of the LHS Marching Band is not just a group of people, it's a group of hard-working, determined, musical leaders who are a key element in the success of our marching band. Our leadership team consists of the drum major, assistant drum major, section leaders, drum captains, assistant drum captain, and guard captains. Before and during the marching season, the leadership team plans band camp (a week-long training for freshmen), develops and teaches incoming freshmen, fine tunes upper classmen skills, cleans music and marching technique, motivates their section, and so much more. They are the core of our band and with each year, they get better and better. Being a part of the leadership team is an experience that helps a person grow as a musician, team member, and mentor.
Becoming a member of the LHS Leadership team is not for the faint of heart as it consists of an in-depth application, an interview with our music director, drumline and color guard coaches, drum major, and drumline and color guard captains, and a full time commitment to marching band during the fall season. After lengthy discussions between all of the interviewers, a select few of the candidates are picked to form the leadership team for the following year.
This year, we have implemented a new mentee program in order to aid in the growth and success of the future leaders of the LHS Marching Band. This program is an opt-in program and is open to all leadership applicants. They will participate in the planning of band camp, assist section leaders with sectionals, guide their fellow colleagues regarding music and marching, and attend all after-practice meetings and a monthly meeting to consult with the whole leadership team to come up with new ideas on how to improve the Marching Band and overall program. This provides all of the mentees will have 24/7 access to every section leader and captain on the leadership team, gain hands-on leadership experience, learn how to work within a team, and experience what their role would be like if they decide to continue their leadership career in the music program.
Hello! My name is Lauren Allen, I am the drum major for the 2020-21 Livermore High School Marching Band, and principal flutist in our Symphonic Band. I became interested in becoming a drum major in 7th grade at Christensen Middle School (go Cougars!) and have helped aspiring drum majors ever since! Musically, I began playing piano at age 6, flute at 10, piccolo at 13, and guitar at 16. Not only have I learned music through band class, but also through dance. I began dancing at age 3 and continue to up until this very day! When I’m not playing an instrument or dancing, my time is spent going to Disneyland, playing games with my family, shopping, watching spacewalks and history shows with my dad, and playing with my dogs. I am so honored and humbled to be a leader and a part of the leadership team for our marching band and take it very seriously. Even during these challenging times, our team is going to do everything in our power to make sure that everyone has the most enjoyable and memorable experience possible. Go Cowboys!

My favorites are probably surfing, wakeboarding, and skating.

Hi!! I’m Sydney Devros, an incoming senior, and this year's marching captain. Last year, I was a part of leadership as Social Coordinator. I have been a part of music since 6th grade, and it’s been my passion since. I’ve been playing clarinet for 6 years now and have also begun how to learn how to play guitar and bass. Music and art are my passions, and I plan to go to college to become either an animator or a tattoo artist! I’m 16 years old and since my freshman year, marching band has been my favorite part of my high school experience. My goal is to foster that same love for marching band in every music student!

My name is Jared Bielski. I am a senior at LHS who has played in the Concert, Symphonic, Jazz, Marching, and Pep Band. I have been part of the Tri-M and LHS Symphonic Orchestra clubs. I play the bass clarinet, alto and bari-sax, and the EWI (electronic wind instrument.) Some of my favorite musicians who I love listening to are Ronnie Cuber, George Gershwin, and Earl Grant. As a Winds Manager, my tasks are to help the various wind groups with tracking weekly sectionals for each instrumental group, supporting section leader if they need coverage, identifying and working with individuals who need a little extra support, and reporting back to Mr. Enright on the musical health of the winds groups. I will learn the entire score of the fall march so that I can offer knowledge and advice to any woodwind or brass musician in need. Music is a passion of mine and I cannot wait to share my knowledge of the various programs, encourage others to do their best when playing and practicing, and mentoring the students so they become the outstanding musicians this music program knows we can become.
Hey everyone! I’m Sandra Diaz and I was chosen to be the flute section leader for this marching season. I’ve been playing the flute since I was in eighth grade which ,ade me a bit behind in experience but I’ve really tried to make it up with consistent hard work. After high school, I personally don’t believe college would be the best choice at least right away so I’m considering joining the Air Force reserves and beginning my technical training as a financial manager and comptroller.
Hi! My name is Catherine and I am the clarinet section leader. I have played clarinet since 6th grade and this is my 2nd year being section leader. The best advice I can give you is to work hard, play hard, and believe in yourself. Don’t be shy to ask others for help, that’s what I’m here for.

After this year, I’m planning on going to Cal State East Bay to double major in history and music. After that, I want to get my teaching credential and hopefully find a job as a music teacher.
