Los Gatos-Saratoga Recreation (LGSR) provides office and meeting spaces, administrative services, and acts as a fiduciary pass-through for the Los Gatos Democracy Tent (LGDT). LGSR is the legal recipient of membership fees, third-party grants, and donations, supporting of the activities of LGDT.
The LGDT relationship with LGSR serves as a model for other Community-based service groups.
LGSR was organized by three local school districts (LGS Union High School District, Los Gatos Union School District, and Saratoga Union School District) as a joint powers agency to ensure the effective and efficient provision of fee-based community supplemental education, recreation services, and after-school child care to the communities of Los Gatos, Saratoga, Monte Sereno and neighboring mountain communities.
LGSR is an entirely fee-based organization and received no government support for its $9.0 Million 2018 budget. The Agency serves thousands of seniors, adults, children and youth. It employs over 100 classified and non-classified staff, hundreds of seasonal staff and summer staff and works with over 300 independent contractors.
