We are a mobile library service specialising in LGBTQIA+ books for children and young people! The library is run by Emily, a former school librarian and qualified youth worker. We go to youth groups, family groups, community events and schools to promote access to LGBTQIA+ books for young people.
We operate on the Little Free Library concept of "Take a book, share a book".
Young people can keep a book for as long as they want. No due date, no library accounts.
You can lend it to your friend, your mum, anyone you like, Share the book love!
Once you're done with it, bring it back when we're next at your group and swap it for another one!
If you're not going to be able to get to the library again, donate it! I suggest your school library.
The whole point of the library is to get good LGBTQIA+ books into the hands of the people who need them. We're not bothered if we don't see a book again because that means it's with someone who needs it.
See where we will be next (Instagram is usually a good place to look!)
If you are a group, or a school, or somewhere else that wants the library to visit then get in touch and we'll come and see you!
If you're looking for individual recommendations/support for accessing LGBTQIA+ books, please get in contact on lgbtlittlefreelibrary@gmail.com or message me on Instagram.
