Hello, I just bought GT7 one week ago and it happened twice when I modify a car, sometimes there is no engine sound or tire sound when I am in a race or time trial, I out back to stock and the sound is back. Per example I just got the s15 r spec and when I switch the manual transmission to the race trans the sound disappears. When I check the sound setting, everything seems normal (like its not 0). Is there anything to fix/update to do?

Short answer: Aftershock V2 or Pother. Long answer: see the list below. I recorded every engine sound I own under the same conditions using a macro program, then I calculated the root mean square (rms) of each recording, and got the results below. Some things to consider:

My raw samples were recorded from my phone (Oneplus 7 pro using an audio recorder app set to 22050Hz stereo). Maybe i just need to record it with different equipment? I also recorded these with my engine in neutral. Maybe i need to try recording while the engine is under load and it might be smoother.

The engine sound under load sounds much better than revving the engine in neutral. This time I tried making a loop out of Raw_Accel_Stereo.wav. There are some artifacts in there from the wind so I started by taking a clean section without wind artifacts and copying that to a new track. Then I added a time track to the project so I could level out the pitch throughout the sample. Made sure the start and end points were zero crossings. Accel_Stereo_Time.wav is the result of this.

Yes, the "VERY low" may be too low it seems, especially if a real-world pilot says so. I am, however, only flying Vulkan now, since the performance is so smooth and fast for me now, with my AMD hardware. Though, I will look into this "low isolation" settings in the EFB sounds section though, since it's a beautiful thing to hear the engines, especially that of a Jumbo. ?

No, I am only flying the Zibo 738 at this point, waiting for the other aircraft to be updated to work in Vulkan. But these almost inaudible sounds were mentioned by people right from the first time I bought this aircraft, so they are NOT realistic, no matter how quiet the real aircraft is.

High and low isolation can be a reason. I have never been in a 747-8 in real world but I feel the guys at TSS can definitely add a few more layers of sound over the pack, the startup definitely needs some tweak and gradual transition from quite to rumbling. They are definitely some of the best guys when it comes to sounds.

Also there was a lot of difference when I tested the sounds with different speakers and headphones. Some were too silent and missed important details while did catch all the sounds.

Hello all

I'm using KSP 1.12 and I'm having an issue. After coming out of time warp (not the first one, just some random time warp, doesn't matter if its physical or normal time warp) sounds like engine noises, landing gear noises and explosions, etc. stop working . Anyone know why?

I'm attaching my logs and mods (as a text file) just in case anyone needs it, and thanks for the help!!

Mod list: -OAW7iKTBOOyIFdrRbp_tBFHzTJMRUgI

Latest Log:

Got the same issue here. On 1.12, engine sounds seem to stop working sometimes on a time warp. It might be related to mods we are both running but your mega.nz download link to the text file with your mods stopped working. I had all the same mods installed on 1.11 and never had this issue. Some of them I've updated, some of them I've yet to.

Noticed this issue myself today, using about 15 mods, all very small, mainly quality of life stuff (like Easy Vessel Switch, RCS Build Aid, etc). Tried to fiddle around with various aspects to recover the audio in game but the only fix was to restart the game annoyingly. I really hope this doesn't take months to fix like the old audio bug with airbreathing engines, at least you could still hear those (albeit, the volume didnt adjust when you scrolled out away from the craft). Where's the best place to report bugs? Discord? Or this forum here? I'll go the extra miles and remove all my mods to try and replicate the bug if no one has offically reported it yet.

Rocket sounds seem to work fine on the launchpad, then I lose everything eventually. I thought it was Kerbalism at first doing some 'realistic' thing to the sound of engines in space, then I noticed my airplane jet engines don't make noise either. I noticed when I reload a save mid-flight, suddenly during the 'lag', the engines will make noise.

@Frostiken Are you using any mods?

I found some other issues too, such as parachutes not making the opening noise or no water splash sound, seems to be some kind of issue with the sound that's forsure. I am currently trying to recreate the issue in stock, no mods at all so I can be sure no mod is possibly causing the issue and do a report on the squad bugtracker. I was using the following before hand, if I can't recreate it at all I'll try and test a few of the common mods used by those who have reported it and see if maybe there is an issue there? Unless someone that plays stock can chime in and say they are having the issue too. I'll keep you guys posted haha!

Try taking Waterfall off, since you're playing with this. Waterfall is the only thing I can think of that affects all the engines having problems. I was going to try it myself but never got around to it.

I see that the timewarp mod author Linuxgurugamer has not acknowledged that mod as being the root cause of this engine sound issue. He says that he has seen this problem without the mod installed. Still waiting for a definite conclusion I guess.

Hello, i just got back to Arma universe after long time, and played a little with my favourite set of mods.....

With fully upgraded PC, i finally enjoyed fliud gameplay at stable FPS level, launched some tank mission with RHS tanks and meet same issue as i remember from the old days. T-72 and T-90 have very bass-y sound, its loud as thunder - definetly loudest sound in the game (bass wise - low tones). I wanted to ask for a help in creating simple addon, not crossing the line of EULA, that could replace RHS T-72 engine sounds with vanilla T-100 varsuk. All RHS T-72 and T-90 Variants are using the same sound set for engine. How i can do it? Was there some changes to audio engine, is documentary help still accurrate? I'm "green" in modding, and wanted to comfortable play this game, but everyone in the house (and me) cant stand thundering when i even touch those tanks.

Summary of Problem:

Not getting any "engine sound" from decoder when I test it on decoder tester. I get other sounds to play (bell, horn, etc). The motor runs and the front and back lights work as expected.

I'm expecting to hear the engine sounds when it gets power, but there is nothing. The strange thing is that the other sounds work. Is something configured incorrectly in the CVs or do I have a bad decoder? Should I contact TTE and/or send it back?

Try resetting the decoder back to original factory settings (CV8=8) and test it again. And be sure to cycle power after you do that. If that doesn't remedy it then I would contact TTE about returning the Lok5 to verify the issue and/or have them reprogram it again with the proper sound file. It sounds like the sound file was not installed.

OK, pressing F8 on the throttle (Im using JMRI) got me the engine sounds! This is what threw me off, usually I expect F8 to mute everything, but it's reversed here? Is that something I can configure? I want the default to be that I get sounds on powerup, and F8 mutes it.

I think the ESU decoders are configured for no sound as the default to minimize the number of sound decoders on a layout firing up at the same time. Maybe not an issue for you but perhaps for someone with a large layout and a large roster of sound-equipped locomotives. That would make for quite a roar...

One thing is for certain. In every Loksound 5 manual, you disable the prime mover startup delay by using 0 as the value, and you enable prime mover startup delay by using 4 as the value. So, if your prime mover is delayed at power up, and you want the sound of the prime mover to start up at power up, subtract 4 from the value of CV 124.

Normally when you open the throttle, the locomotive will not start moving right away. First, the power plant (diesel engine) will rev up or the brakes will be released on a steam locomotive while the cylinders will be slowly filled with steam. Therefore, it takes some time before the locomotive actually starts moving. 9af72c28ce
