Maya was a typical Norn. She followed the spirit of Bear and worked at a local tavern where she lofted and moved barrels of ale regularly. However, news spread that Aurene, the second Scion of the crystal dragon Glint, had been killed in battle with Kralkatorrik. Suddenly, all of existence was lined up to be wiped out.

Maya fell into a deep depression with this realization that her humble lifestyle was coming to an end. She packed for a long trip and headed toward Thunderhead Keep to pay her final respects.

But Aurene was not dead. When Caithe and the Commander broke her body free of the crystals, Aurene rose once again. Maya felt that she had witnessed a miracle, and she picked up a blade that was inscribed with runes. Maya joined the Order of Crystal Bloom as a Crystal Guardian.

Very quickly, it became apparent that Maya was among the new Order's most powerful and capable champions, dedicating her life to the scion in the struggle against Kralkatorrik. The fighting was not in vain. Kralkatorrik was defeated and killed, with Aurene taking his place as a new Elder Dragon. It was then, gazing upon the brilliant display of the fully grown dragon before her, that Maya's faith changed. She committed to becoming a crusader of Aurene's light, changing her name in the process.

Maya returned home, with her faith fully converted. However, not all was well, as she frequently clashed with other Norn who saw her as just another follower of an Elder Dragon, similar to the Sons of Svanir. Maya and her compatriots are currently attempting to spread the good word of the benevolent Elder Dragon around the Shiverpeaks, to much resistance.

Maya was approached by Kris Ravensdottir, a skilled hunter and sworn enemy of dragon followers the world over. Kris challenged Maya to a duel to the death, savoring the chance to slay another follower of the accursed elder dragons. However, Maya's abilities were that of light and purity, something that was wholly unusual to Elder Dragon followers. The duel was a draw, as the two were equally matched. Kris realized that her opponent was no ordinary dragon pawn.

The two shook hands as Maya withstood a sucker punch to the gut. She grinned at Kris, who grinned back. The two were now rivals, one determined to outdo the other.

During the events of Icebrood Saga, Maya fought to defend Tyria as part of Crystal Bloom operations during response missions. She was not present for the death of Jormag and Primordus, but she still felt it all the same. Her life's goal now done, Maya remains in the Crystal Bloom, awaiting the next big adventure.
