Azula is shy, introverted, and cautious. She dislikes conflict, though does not shy away from a fight if the situation calls for it. She primarily uses water magic, and is adept at earth and air. However, she fears fire, thus she tends to avoid using her fire magic, preferring to leave that facet of her profession to her girlfriend Rosemary.

Azula nearly died in her pod before she could awaken. When Mordremoth attacked the Pale Tree in the Grove, it nearly irreversibly damaged it. Fires raged around the tree as the Wardens attempted to put the inferno out. Azula's pod descended as the Pale Tree hastily cast off all of her children that were ready, but one of them--Azula's pod--was caught by a blaze, burning off the pod's "parachute" and causing it to drop into the flames.

While in her pod, Azula felt hot, and she began to panic as holes burned through her pod. Tongues of flame burst from the charred maws, threatening to cook Azula alive. She called for help, and a nearby sylvari elementalist in training heard her cries. This Sylvari, Rosemary, rushed over and cast a miniature tidal wave over the pod--something that she was told not to do in case the rush of boiling hot water damaged the Pale Tree further--and extinguished the flames. The pod burst open, and Rosemary pulled Azula, naked and trembling, into a nearby pond. Rosemary cuddled the poor sapling, trying to calm her down. She was later reprimanded for using the tidal wave to extinguish the fires.

Later that night, after the attack had been repelled and the flames extinguished, Rosemary sat in her quarters and contemplated the day's events over a nice roast. Suddenly, she felt a presence in her quarters, and she turned to see Azula standing in the entrance, the same blueberry sapling that she saved earlier that day. Azula struggled to speak, but Rosemary simply smiled and beckoned Azula to join her for supper.

The two started seeing each other more often, growing closer as time went on, eventually becoming almost inseparable.

While learning her elementalist skills, Azula found she could not cast fire spells without panicking. Instead, Rosemary would help her with tasks requiring fire magic. Eventually, Rosemary grew fond of using fire, so she decided to stick with it, while Azula practiced her other attunements, especially water, the element that had saved her life.

Today, Azula and Rosemary live together in Divinity's Reach, far from the effects of the Elder Dragons and the rampage of the god Balthazar. They help protect the city and surrounding countryside from bandits, White Mantle activities, and Centaur attacks. The two will occasionally even enter the Mist War to fight and hone their skills further.
