Alice's backstory is a mystery. Some say she is a trickster demon from the Underworld, others call her a powerful djinn from Elona. Whatever her origins are, few things are certain about her. She is a shape-shifter thief, using her abilities to impersonate other people to perform heists and burglary. This ability has a fairly long and unpredictable cool-down, therefore Alice uses it sparingly so as to avoid being stuck in an undesirable form for too long.

Another downside to this ability is that Alice's eye color does not change with her. Keen-eyed observers will be able to tell that their acquaintance/friend/family-member/friendly neighborhood hobo/dog isn't the real one just by the fact that their eyes are now mysteriously bright purple. Still, the vast majority of people don't notice, and they never realize they're being tricked until after they've been robbed blind.

Alice's original appearance is a mystery, as she refuses to disclose it to anyone. What is known is that her original form had both male and female sexual characteristics. Alice's preferred appearance is a busty woman with a side-swept haircut, wide hips, and thick, red lips. This form is very special to her, for reasons that are, again, unknown, which is why she eventually always ends up changing back into this form.

In 1219 AE, Alice infiltrated the Ministry of Purity in Cantha amid the chaos that surrounded Zhaitan's awakening and the subsequent flooding of Kaineng City. She did this as a way to attempt to preserve the cultures that the ministry was purging from Cantha.

When the Ministry of Purity collapsed, Alice joined the Ministry of Security to work as a spy for the empire. When the Purists began springing up, Alice infiltrated them too, under a new alias.
