Mane: "I try to take a couple of young guys under my wing and tell them what I've learned, because you can't teach nobody if you don't know anything."
Mane: "When I wanted to be professionally known as a rapper I said I wanna take the moniker Gucci Mane. But all the people in my hood, not even my closest friends but everybody in Atlanta, calls me Guwop. I didn't start it. I can't put my finger on how it spread. I know it started from my boys but then everybody who I collaborate picked up on it and they'd say it to me."
Mane: "The way I think I should stay out of trouble is by stayin' busy. With idle time comes a lot of biz, so the more my work load is heavy, I'll have no time to get into any trouble or makin' dis tracks or get into conversation about any other rappers."
Mane: "My goal is to drop 10 projects in 2013. All albums. I gotta do it. I know the 10 projects I want to drop."
Mane: "I take responsibility for the times I was arrested and the things that I did. Me being 33 now, I look back on those times and I wish that a lot of things I didn't do. I wish I could have back because I see how much I influence people. People wanna follow in my footsteps and I wish that I can now do more positive things, and that back then I'd done more positive things."
Mane: "I learned that everybody is not your friend. You have to watch who you associate with and surround yourself with positive things and people who want to do something positive."
Mane: "I feel like I am an example. And I hope my life is a testimony to show people no matter what you go through, how many hurdles are placed in front of you, how many bumps and bruises you get, to pick yourself up and be resilient and keep on trucking."
Mane: "When I might be on a business trip, a lot of people are partying and they may be drunk or under the influence of something that I'm not under the influence of, and that might influence their actions. I'm not even blaming them, but being in the club and not knowing what everybody's motives are, I have to take precautions damn near every week, especially when I go out of town."
Mane: "I usually record all through the night, but I'm known for waking up early in the morning. Even if I had recorded till 3 or 4 in the morning I might wake up at 9 or 10. I never sleep till 1 o clock."
Mane: "I just want to let everyone know I'm not a murderer."
Mane: “I might be ugly, but my cars are real pretty.”
Mane: "I'm just a careful person around wheels and stuff like that. I try to be as cautious as I can, cause I lost friends to motorcycle accidents and car accidents. So I don't ever play around anything like that."
Mane: "For me to be where I'm at now - you know what I'm saying? - a multimillionaire and to help other people be multimillionaires - I'm so proud."
Mane: "As nervous as I am to pick up a water bottle, that's how nervous I am to perform. My confidence is very high. I really enjoy going up, I feel like it's my birthday everyday that I have to go up there."
Mane: "Most of my subject matter was all kind of, like, party stuff, jewelry and cars. It was really just, you know, shallow."
Mane: "Before I make an action, think about the consequences. ... Any decision I make is a heavy decision."
Mane: "I watch the people I hang around, 'cause if you hangin' with people who still got their foot in the street, that really involves you as well. It's definitely all about the company I keep. If you don't want anything to do with the streets or whatever, but you got everybody around you in the street, you just as much a part of it as they are. A lot of times it's very hard; you gotta straight cut off people, you know what I mean? If it ain't good for you, you just gotta turn your back to it."
Mane: "Always watch your back - when I was fourteen I got a tattoo of an eye on the back of my neck, so I could say I was always watchin' my back."
Mane: "A lot of people say if they could go back in time they would not change anything. But, to be honest with you, I like it and I don't like it. I like the fact that all I went through as a youngster made me a great man, but just goin' through what I went through - I wouldn't wanna go through that again. I wouldn't wish that on nobody."
Mane: "I feel like you don't have to go through jail, that's not part of bein' a man."
Mane: "The way I lived, I grew up in a time where people would take your shoes, they'll take your jacket, they'll take your cheese without a gun. So people would jump on you - this was like fourteen, fifteen years old. So it always taught me that you gotta have your crew, in some ways you gotta move, don't put your self in harm's way, and definitely if you're a street dude and want any kind off credibility, don't put yourself under the mercy of anybody else, or you'll be at their mercy; they can do what they want to do to you."
Mane: "I go to the club just like a normal person. I might go to the studio, but I go everywhere like a normal person would."
Mane: "Ain't got no comparison and I ain't being arrogant."
Mane: "I decided I was gonna call myself cause Gucci Mane cause that was my father's name. His nickname was Gucci Mane. That's what my grandmother called my father. People would call me Gucci Mane every now and then, but honestly, that was his name."
Mane: "It feels like all my hard work is getting recognized. It makes me work even harder."
Mane: "I value my core fans I got from the hood. I think a lot of things might hit home with them, like problems with the law or how I talk about partying - all the different topics I cover when I do rap. But I also value my suburban fans who take a liking to my music and like the way I change cadences. I appreciate all of them cause both types of fans push me to record all the time, both push me to give my best when I do a show. Both push me to be the best rapper and not just do it as a hobby, but do it as a job and take it seriously and put pride in it."
Mane: "I feel like if I show people how good I'm doing with myself, then it'll bring people to want me to manage them as well."
Mane: “I’m satisfied and proud of the things I did – even the bumps and the bruises that I’ve had on the way. You fall down, you get up, you brush yourself off and you keep going. And that’s what we’re doing.”
Mane: "I believe I can make all the money I've missed. But I can't regain the time with fans and family."
