Jennette McCurdy
ESFP so9
SeFi so/sp 964
NOTE: Although she does refer to herself in a way that would suggest introversion, her main focus seems to be Se rather than Fi, focused most on the tangible and what is happening in broader society, with her Fi and Te actually being quite balanced in utilization. If she were an ISFP, I would expect a repression of Te, an aspect I didn't see in her at all. Also, her story in general seems to strongly reflect nearly all themes surrounding the so9, where she was hardworking and a constant peacemaker for the sake of her mother.
McCurdy: "I think it's really important to stay active, even when you're very busy. I know it can get hectic and hard to find time, but make that time because you owe it to yourself."
McCurdy: "Being a role model is cool and a great honor. I'm grateful to be considered one and will live up to that title by encouraging kids to eat their Wheaties and brush their teeth often."
McCurdy: "I really cherish the memories I have of my trips. For some reason, when you travel, it's like your mind picks up on the fact that this is something uncharacteristic, so it tunes in more acutely and remembers better."
[On being the main money-maker for her family as a kid]
McCurdy: "Yeah it was overwhelming but I also think, looking back on it, that like without being like 'oh i'm trying to find the silver lining' I actually do think it was really helpful for me to learn that kind of work ethic, because knowing that like I had to support the family was a help... Well like I don't think i would have had that much drive. If I was just like 'I want to act, let me have fun!' or like if 'fun' was the drive I don't think that's gonna get you to get as good of a thing, as quick at a thing, as if you're like 'f*ck i gotta put food on the table.'"
[On struggling to be vulnerable]
McCurdy: "I so relate. Navigating that vulnerability is something that, yeah, I don't, I don't feel- I don't know how to do properly. I'll be like; 'my mom died' or something, like I'll just like throw out the one thing that I'm comfortable saying [laughs]."
[On her views on religion and experience with it as a child]
McCurdy: "My sort of harsh judgment toward religion, or at least my family's experience with it, is that my mom just like, threw herself into religion as soon as her life wasn't going well in an attempt of like 'God please help me.' And then because she did have this miraculous recovery, she had stage four metastatic ductal carcinoma, the doctors told her she would not survive and she did, and I think because of that, she thought 'well it's all because of God,' so then she kind of like threw herself even more into religion after her recovery."
McCurdy: "Sometimes I'll let little things get to me. Or I'll make a big deal out of little things."
McCurdy: "I'm always thinking 'Don't mess this up.'"
[On advice to her teenage self after turning 20]
McCurdy: "Well, now, after being 20 for two weeks, I am in a rightful position to talk on this matter. Something I wish I would have known as a teenager... hmmm. I still need to really, really, really work on this, but not sweating the small stuff. I get stressed out really easily. Sometimes I'll let little things get to me. Or I'll make a big deal out of little things. I'd work on that and wish I had worked on that sooner."
McCurdy: "Sorry I’m so sarcastic. I feel really bad about it."
McCurdy: "My number-one health tip would be to employ the 80-20 rule. If you're good 80 percent of the time, if you get at least 30 minutes of exercise a day and for the most part you eat very healthy, then 20 percent of the time you can be more lenient and go easy on yourself."
[On filming the finale of iCarly]
McCurdy: "It was ten times more difficult than I had even anticipated. We got really emotional whether it was in front of the cameras or in the middle of a read. It’s bittersweet, but we realized that we were not saying goodbye to each other. We were just saying goodbye to a part of our lives."
[On if style is important to her]
McCurdy: "I had three older brothers growing up, so my style sense was slim to none. I started in the entertainment business when I was eight and then got on iCarly when I was 14. It's been a huge learning curve from 14 on—finding my own sense of style and finding what I respond to and what I'm also comfortable with, but feel like I look good in. It's definitely a process and an ongoing one at that. I've definitely grown to love style and things that appeal to me. A cute outfit can really make your day. If I wear something I look good in, my mood just goes way up."
McCurdy: "No matter who or what you support, I believe in supporting fairness first."
McCurdy: "When you're the object of everyone's affection, make no mistake about it: you are an object. People don't have any interest in loving you for you. Their love for you is for who they think you are."
McCurdy: "I personally have gone to photo shoots and see the pictures afterwards, and I don't look like me because I'm just so airbrushed and so, kind of, fake and almost plastic-looking, you know? I think it's misleading and it's not good representation of anybody in the magazines and it's not a good message to send to people reading the magazines because they might think people actually look like that... I wouldn't mind having a magazine that didn't use airbrushing."
McCurdy: "They say actions speak louder than words, but actions don't speak. People speak, and people are loud."
McCurdy: "I feel like no one starts entertainment with an impure intention, but somewhere along the way, lines become blurred and you're no longer sure which way is up and which way is down."
McCurdy: "Oh yeah, I'm definitely a tomboy! I love sports, hate dresses, don't own a single pair of high-heels, am not a fan of makeup, and I'm not afraid to get messy!"
[On describing her teenage self in one word]
McCurdy: "Salty. I think everything can use a little salt. I think salt is a mindset... Salt is an overall viewpoint and that would definitely be my teenage self."
McCurdy: "I think that our generation is a generation of smart young people who are attempting to do big things. I have so many friends who just have big dreams and they work their butts off every day to try to make these things happen and so long as we keep that mindset and remember others, I think we'll be good."
McCurdy: "Get a gym membership! If you have a membership, you're bound to go. If you say, like, 'Oh, I'll get it one day,' you're never going to do it."
McCurdy: "I am a huge fan of the apple. All types. I have usually one or two apples a day. I love mango slices. As for veggies, I love stuffing myself with everything. I love carrot sticks. I love any vegetable grilled. I think veggies are so yummy when they're grilled."
[On her favorite food]
McCurdy: "My favorite is Steamfresh broccoli with just a hint of garlic salt."
McCurdy: "I loved shooting 'iGo to Japan' because we got to be outside a lot, and our call times were really late because we had so many night scenes. It was pouring rain, so the cast would huddle together in between takes and drink hot chocolate. Shooting that episode was such a great bonding experience."
McCurdy: "Both iCarly and Victorious fans are so hardcore and intense."
McCurdy: "We met three years ago at the pilot of a Nickelodeon promo shoot. I remember finding out we had the same birthday, but a year apart, and that we were both allergic to shellfish. And then we started singing Jingle Bells. We hit it off right away!"
