Cyrus: "If you believe in yourself anything is possible."
Cyrus: "So when dealing with heartbreak, I look at what’s being added, what’s being subtracted, and I write down each on each side of the scale. And then I can make a logical decision based on numbers, and not based on every thought that I think because our brain totally does its own thing sometimes."
Cyrus: "I know what I’m doing. I know I’m shocking you."
Cyrus: "There's nothing more fun than being out on stage and getting the vibe from the crowd. There's nothing like being on a set where you are there to make other people happy and to make them laugh. That's the best job in the world."
Cyrus: "People like controversy because that's what sells."
Cyrus: "It’s almost like we spent the last year living in these multiple dimensions where we have experienced more division, but also more unity. At the same time you’re seeing the divide, you’re seeing the glue. We’re bringing people together, and we’re stronger together. Aloneness is special, but togetherness is powerful."
Cyrus: "My voice is how I represent myself. It’s how I express myself."
Cyrus: "You can't live a positive life with a negative mind and if you have a positive outcome you have a positive income and just to have more positivity and just to kind of laugh it off."
Cyrus: "I think that turning on the charm without being fake is really important."
Cyrus: "I am so excited to let fans in on how important my relationship with my family is to me. I hope to motivate mothers and daughters to build lifetimes of memories together and inspire kids around the world to live their dreams."
Cyrus: "All I do is work, so I eat to live and to keep going."
Cyrus: "For me, the movement needs to be something bigger than just a record. For me, a movement is something that represents, like, taking over the world. ... You can watch that performance, and some people would think it was just like a hot mess, but it's a strategic hot mess."
Cyrus: "Life is all about having a good time."
Cyrus: "I don't want to be perfect, but I do want to be a role model. My mom always tells me that imperfections equal beauty. All of us are imperfect."
Cyrus: "I hate being thought of as a product."
Cyrus: "I would say I'm a nice person, and I take pride in the fact that I treat everyone really well, so there's no reason for anyone to ever come at me because I only want the best for everybody else."
Cyrus: "I want to be real. I want to be a real person. That's what an artist is. An artist has to be honest. Without honesty, there's nothing."
Cyrus: "It does get frustrating having the cameras on you all the time, because if you make mistakes, then the whole world knows about it. Like, it's not just your family and friends, it's everyone."
Cyrus: "It's so much easier to know who you are when there aren't a thousand people telling you who they think you are."
Cyrus: "The dreams that you hold for your future are what you dream about at night. They’re always at the back of your mind. They’re what your heart desires. They keep you going. Accept reality and have a backup plan, but always follow your dreams no matter what."
Cyrus: "I am who I am. I say what I mean in the moment, even if that changes tomorrow."
Cyrus: "Social media is an important tool for connecting and starting interesting conversations. It gives people a voice. It’s an important way of reflecting who you are on a page, saying something about yourself, telling a story, and connecting with other like-minded people."
Cyrus: "Everyone is constantly transitioning."
Cyrus: “Embarrassment is the worst! It's the feeling of having your entire body go numb and not knowing what to do with yourself for that one moment.”
Cyrus: “There are multiple sides to all of us. Who we are - and who we might be if we follow our dreams”
Cyrus: "My life won't be a series of either/ors - musician or actor, rock or country, straitlaced or rebellious, this or that, yes or no. The real choices in life aren't that simple."
Cyrus: "I'm kind of bipolar in my acting choices because I just want to do a little bit of everything."
Cyrus: "I never faked anything. I never played the Disney game of smiling and being a princess and then suddenly having a hard time, saying, 'That isn't who I really am.'"
Cyrus: "Anyone that hates on you is always below you, because they're just jealous of what you have."
Cyrus: "I’m a believer that everyone’s suffering is different. All of us experience pain in our lives and loss and sorrow, but also joy and love and happiness."
Cyrus: "As long as you're not hurting anyone, your choices are your choices."
Cyrus: “The biggest moments of insecurity come when all self-confidence is lost and you feel like people are watching and judging. It should be the opposite. You should feel like the people who are watching care about you. This is something we can try to give each other – the feeling that eyes signal support, not disdain.”
Cyrus: "It is important to ask yourself why you’re doing what you’re doing and what purpose it serves in the big picture."
Cyrus: "I guess I kind of realized that my whole life isn't one giant press junket. I don't have to be smiling all the time and always have the perfect answer."
Cyrus: "You don't have to go out and party every night. You can act because it's your dream."
Cyrus: "I've actually had a melody on my guitar since the day I learned how to play it, back when I was 7. And for some reason I can't add lyrics to it."
Cyrus: "I have an opinion. I have my own taste."
Cyrus: "I’ve always loved music since I was born, but it was never genre specific. I listened and loved and found something that I related to in everything, so whether that was country, blues, jazz or pop, I found myself in that."
Cyrus: "As soon as I step on that stage, nothing matters. I don't think of it as work. It's just so much fun."
Cyrus: "I have two notebooks that I take everywhere I go. One of them is filled with my morals, my values, my purpose, my potential, my capabilities, and my commitments—to others, and to myself. I’m constantly writing things in there."
Cyrus: "No matter how long what I'm doing here lasts, I want to be a songwriter for the rest of my life. I love it and it's my escape."
Cyrus: "If we're so smart and so much better than all the animals, and man rules the world, why can't we just change all the time from, like, a caterpillar to a butterfly?"
Cyrus: "I feel like I'm one of the biggest feminists in the world because I tell women not to be scared of anything."
Cyrus: "Beauty is the enemy. We try to conquer not feeling beautiful all our lives. It's a battle that can't be won. There's no definition of beauty. The only way to achieve beauty is to feel it from inside without breaking down into individual physical attributes."
Cyrus: "I take a hiatus every now and again, but I'm not good at that."
Cyrus: "For me the most important thing is being a really good person, and that doesn’t depend on what you do on stage, that depends on how you treat people when you’re offstage."
Cyrus: "Just because you're an artist doesn't give you an excuse to be an a*shole."
Cyrus: "When preparing for a concert, I do lots of training. I work with a choreographer to create great moves and then I have to keep my voice strong with lessons."
Cyrus: "When you're younger, you're more selfish, because there's so much self-exploration, you're in your own mind."
Cyrus: "America is just so weird in what they think is right and wrong. Like, I was watching 'Breaking Bad' the other day, and they were cooking meth. I could literally cook meth because of that show. It's a how-to. And then they bleeped out the word 'f*ck'. And I'm like, really? They killed a guy, and disintegrated his body in acid, but you're not allowed to say 'f*ck'? It's like when they bleeped 'molly' at the VMAs. Look what I'm doing up here right now, and you're going to bleep out 'molly'?"
Cyrus: "I like being the girl nobody can have."
Cyrus: "I was creating attention for myself because I was dividing myself from a character I had played. Anyone, when you’re 20 or 21, you have more to prove. ‘I’m not my parents.’ ‘I am who I am.’"
Cyrus: "I think there are always going to be things that you're going to want to do. It's about picking yourself back up and starting again."
