J-Hope
NeFi I---
J-Hope: "I’m trying to create what I want while being aware of trends. Since my listener base has increased, I can’t completely ignore people’s opinions and do whatever I want, so I keep going back and forth. There are many times when I wonder what I should do. But I believe this is when I should concentrate and learn as much as I can."
J-Hope: "I’m always attempting something new. In the process of turning something abstract into something concrete, I carefully consider the feedback I get. Since the experience helps me develop as a person, I can find reasons to enjoy the process. For example, I was initially worried that my lack of English would make communication difficult, but now I’m starting to think that if I make an effort to become better at English and work with more artists, we could generate greater synergy. Everything can become a positive."
J-Hope: "I believe details are extremely important. I think about everything, from the content to the flow."
J-Hope: "I believe that nothing really changes when we age, despite the first digit of our age increasing from '2' to '3' to '4'. It’s better to come to peace with it. I mean, that’s what life is, after all. Once I made up my mind that there’s still so much I can do in the future, a lot of the emotions I had toward getting older disappeared."
J-Hope: "I always try to bring the fun into whatever I’m doing."
[On making his solo track, Chicken Noodle Soup]
J-Hope: "I’m the type who feels a great sense of pride at making what I like and seeing the result. First off, the whole production process was so fun. It was through dance I got into music, so I wanted to showcase it. I worked hard on the idea and concept to portray my passion for dance, as well as all the fond memories I had of dance."
J-Hope: "I believe my “Chicken Noodle Soup” was born out of my nostalgia for what we call old-school hip-hop, because it was what first got me dancing and what I listened to back then. I always danced to hip-hop, so my body remembers the rhythms."
J-Hope: "Because everyone thinks differently, it’s impossible to fully satisfy everyone. Rather than hoping that many people will like what I’ve done, I try to find meaning in my accomplishments, that I was able to do my thing."
J-Hope: "I try not to become complacent with the finished product. As I said earlier, I’ve always been ambitious about new projects. By continuing to chase new things, I grow and develop as an artist and my areas of inexperience are strengthened. Maybe that’s how I was able to have great results."
J-Hope: "From the moment I start writing a song, I picture myself on stage. Then I’m able to figure out how I’m supposed to write it. I think about everything, even before and after I’ve stepped onto the stage."
J-Hope: "You can’t take stage outfits out of the equation when you’re planning a performance. It’s an area I don’t know much about, but I’m trying to learn more. Onstage fashion is an important part of the whole performance. It’s an aspect I shouldn’t ignore."
[On having sad and difficult moments]
J-Hope: "It’s the hardest when I’m trying to 'level up.' In those moments, I try to think not as J-Hope, but as Jung Hoseok. In other words, I have to accept myself. It’s not helpful to think, 'I’m positive and cheerful because I’m J-Hope.' I’m Jung Hoseok, a person, and I have to accept that I can be sad, that I can cry and get annoyed. Thinking this way helps me go on."
