NOTE: Also, just as a note, she does identify as an introvert in the Zane Lowe interview, something that is interesting to keep in mind. Although I don't consider self-identification to be proof, it is encouraging to see that she would likely agree with the Introverted asssessment. Timestamp 21:55
This conclusion is more on the speculative side, but I am somewhat confident in the idea that Demi is actually an Extraverted-appearing Fi dom, as from the content I looked over, she centers her focus on Fi-related topics, with her extraverted perception function acting in service of that Dominant Fi process. From a visual standpoint, there are signs of controlled reserve from Demi, with her showing a more rigid and inward-looking demeanor that seem to somewhat contradict her ability to express herself. Talking about her emotions and sentiment, more than discussing reality itself seems to be her predominant preference, and she also seems to show a quite strong connection to her Ni function given her focus on meanings, typically in service of her Fi sentiment focus. She is quite focused on expressing her experiences with trauma and the deeper-meaning insights that go along with her experiences, more evidence that I believe shows her strong Ni process. As for Inferior Te, Demi is often known to throw away objectively perceptible facts and strong discomfort with power structures, as many of the quotes I saved display those traits. As for her being the sp4, there is a strong connection to suffering and perfectionism both expressed, often in relation to her own body which is quite archetypical of the subtype. In my opinion, she represents the 'long suffering' and driven sp4 type quite well.
Here are some other interviews that influenced this conclusion for me: https://youtu.be/ADwmUNLQ7iE, https://youtu.be/boCJhR6Al3s, https://youtu.be/A-P0ELwd-rc, https://youtu.be/K9_z_V4UQIs, https://youtu.be/9XgflsmKnK0
Lovato: "Everyday is a new opportunity to change your life and be who you want to be."
Lovato: "I don’t think I’m fixed. People think that you’re like a car in a body shop. You go in they fix you and then you’re out and you work like you’re brand new but it doesn’t work like that. You know, it takes constant fixing."
Lovato: "One of the scariest moments in life, is when you come to the realization that the only person that can save you is yourself."
Lovato: "I try to keep it real. I don't have time to worry about what I'm projecting to the world. I'm just busy being myself."
Lovato: "Your imperfections make you beautiful, they make you who you are."
Lovato: "I don't have many deal breakers. I've done so much in my life, it doesn't feel right to judge other people."
Lovato: "If it takes me 10 years to be the musician I want to be, great."
Lovato: "No matter what you're going through, there's a light at the end of the tunnel and it may seem hard to get to it but you can do it and just keep working towards it and you'll find the positive side of things."
Lovato: "Love is louder than the pressure to be perfect."
Lovato: "I want my music to do the explaining."
Lovato: “Something happened in every city that we went to, which was really cool. Not necessarily just with UFOs, but there was even paranormal things that happened.”
Lovato: "I knew from the second I stepped onstage. I was like, yep, this is what I want to do."
Lovato: "I know that I have a voice and can use it for good or bad. It's a gift from God."
Lovato: "I think scars are like battle wounds - beautiful, in a way. They show what you've been through and how strong you are for coming out of it."
Lovato: "I never thought that I'd be a role model. Everyone kind of just made me a role model, and I hated that."
Lovato: "I want to get to the point where one day I don't have to have anything but a rug and a microphone stand on stage and still be able to sell out places like Madison Square Garden, like Bruce Springsteen does."
Lovato: "I don't see myself doing television, but I do see myself directing."
Lovato: "I've come to realize your career is all about the choices you make. Every single one matters."
Lovato: "I think I've definitely had my rock bottom and I think that was probably right before I went into treatment where I said, 'I definitely need help.'"
Lovato: "Sometimes you don't know who you can and cannot trust. I still learn that over and over again."
Lovato: “Compassion and empathy are key character traits to have in order to rebuild all relations with others.”
Lovato: "You don't have to wait till the beginning of a new year to make resolutions for yourself. It's all about loving and taking care of the only body you will ever have... Cherish it, love it, embrace it... Because when you do... It begins to show."
Lovato: "In my career, it benefits me to be a perfectionist. In my personal life, it definitely doesn't. Having been in recovery from eating disorders, body image and perfectionism are not friends in my eyes, and so it's been difficult to balance. But for the most part it's just something that you have to walk through with as much grace as possible."
[On Extraterrestrial life]
Lovato: “I guess they’re still kind of hypotheses. I have a belief that you can make contact, just as easy as I did if you were to meditate and expand your consciousness and work towards enlightenment. I believe that is the quickest way to be able to see something or meet something.”
Lovato: "Sometimes you have to allow yourself to reach new milestones when your mind wants to quit. Keep pushing yourself... Your spirit deserves it."
Lovato: "Sometimes I think, 'Why couldn't I have been normal?'"
[On the message of their ET show]
Lovato: “[To give viewers] an understanding of how much we need to take care of our planet and how much we need to learn how to expand our consciousness.”
Lovato: "I want to be fearless."
Lovato: "The queer label is fine because to me it's just this blanket statement of being different. That's what I can commit to. I feel like I'm too fluid to commit to a label."
Lovato: "I was just so sick. I thought that orange juice was going to make me fat."
Lovato: "After hundreds of auditions and nothing, you're sitting home and wondering, 'What am I doing?'"
[On if we should be afraid of Extraterrestrial life]
Lovato: “I think that if there were beings that could harm us, we would have been gone a long time ago. I also think that if there are civilisations that are of consciousness in other dimensions, which has given them the technology to be able to travel through space, I think that they are looking for nothing but peaceful encounters and interactions because like I said, if they wanted us gone, we would have been gone a long time ago!”
Lovato: “Success comes when you want it more than you want to sleep... When you want it more than you need to breathe...”
Lovato: "I never found out until I went into treatment that I was bipolar."
[On if they could list facts about UFO's]
Lovato: “Well, because this has still not been confirmed by any government, I wish I could tell you facts, but I don’t have any!”
Lovato: "Never be ashamed of what you feel. You have the right to feel any emotion that you want, and to do what makes you happy. That’s my life motto."
Lovato: "I wanted to film everything that goes down when I go and search for these UFOs so that my fans can come along for the ride."
Lovato: “I think that the world is becoming a more open place. Slowly, but surely, I think that we’re making progress. And we’re slowly getting there. But, you know, any progress is progress!”
Lovato: "I realized that my life was probably going to change in a spiritual way because I have a spiritual connection to this journey as well."
Lovato: "I believe in aliens. I think it would be way too selfish of us as mankind to believe we are the only lifeforms in the universe."
Lovato: “Maybe the next time you want to cut someone down... Take a second to listen to what they have to say. Life's too short to be mean.”
Lovato: "I don't let anyone's insecurities, emotions, or opinions bother me. I know that if I am happy, that's all that matters to me."
Lovato: "Stay humble. Don’t take away the power of the greatness that surrounds you."
[On if they signed the viral petition to deport Justin Bieber]
Lovato: "No, I didn’t. He’s actually a nice guy. I don’t really know him that well, but he seems to have grown up. He looks like he’s maturing. But, you know, when you’re young and you get older, you change and people change. You have things in common, and then all of a sudden, you don’t. It’s just a part of life."
Lovato: "One of the reasons I was so unhappy for years was because I never embraced my emotions and I was trying to stay in control."
Lovato: "Creativity is what helps me escape a lot of my inner demons."
Lovato: “My fans should know that I do not call them aliens, because 'alien' is a derogatory term for anything, even extraterrestrials, which is why I call them ETs.”
Lovato: "I think that my whole life, I was the horse that everyone was leading to the well, and they couldn't make me drink the water from the well. It wasn't until this past year that I was able to taste the freedom of the water in the well, because I finally was ready to drink it."
Lovato: "Where I am today... I still have my ups and downs, but I take it one day at a time and I just hope that I can be the best that I can possibly be, not only for myself, but also young people that are out there today that need someone to look up to."
Lovato: "I am cautious to say that, just like I feel the complete abstinent method isn't a one-size-fits-all solution for everybody, I don't think that this journey of moderation is a one-size-fits-all solution for everybody, too."
Lovato: "Don’t judge me. You know my name but not my story."
Lovato: "I don't think there's going to be a day when I don't think about food or my body, but I'm living with it, and I wish I could tell young girls to find their safe place and stay with it."
Lovato: "Share your story with someone. You never know how one sentence of your life story could inspire someone to rewrite their own."
Lovato: "The best advice I can give to anyone going through a rough patch is to never be afraid to ask for help."
[Talking about her UFO sighting]
Lovato: "We were stargazing and we tried to do this protocol where you make contact, and all of a sudden something showed up directly above us in the sky."
Lovato: "I wish that people could understand that the brain is the most important organ in your body. Just because you can't see it like you could see a broken bone doesn't mean it's not as detrimental and devastating to a family or an individual."
Lovato: “The more confidence you have within yourself, the more you can bring out in others. It's more about the way you feel over the way you look."
Lovato: "We deserve to show the world our beauty and our confidence!"
Lovato: “One of the reasons I was so unhappy for years was because I never embraced my emotions and I was trying to stay in control. In treatment, all of the negative things I did were stripped away and I had to start processing my feelings.”
Lovato: "The ones who are honest with you, are the ones who love you."
Lovato: “For a long time, I was pretending to be someone that I wasn't, and I was miserable. When I came out and said, 'I'm human, I've got problems, but I'm willing to share them,' that's when I started to really connect.”
Lovato: "Surround yourself with people who aren't afraid of your response to their honesty. Surround yourself with those who aren't afraid to say no."
