Struthers: "If a man is pictured chopping off a woman's breast, it only gets a R rating, but if, God forbid, a man is pictured kissing a woman's breast, it gets an X rating. Why is violence more acceptable than tenderness?"
Struthers: "There are so many ways to represent a woman. I would like to play a murderess and an unwed mother, and a nun, and an old Jewish mother."
Struthers: "You need insanity; you need to be fearless; you need to think outside the box, and these are intangibles, things you are either born with or not. One of my earliest memories is having only a few words to my command and using them to make my mother and sister laugh. It is a gift that has been given to me, and I am so lucky to be able to make a living using this gift."
Struthers: "I could never understand that from the first time I found out some comic or another made fun of me and then a greeting card was on sale somewhere making fun of me. It dumbfounded me that if you're trying to help hungry children, you're fodder for horrible, cruel jokes. What's wrong with the world?"
Struthers: "I knew from the start that I was a character actress."
Struthers: "I just feel energized when I am around young, talented people. There is something about these kids that's amazing. I learn as much from them as they do from me."
Struthers: "At first I behaved like an idiot on the set, I thought that was the way to get people to like me. I've been educated on the set. I've learned to be myself. And now, they respect me."
