Schwarzenegger: “For me life is continuously being hungry. The meaning of life is not simply to exist, to survive, but to move ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer.”
Schwarzenegger: "If it bleeds, we can kill it."
Schwarzenegger: "I think the first and most important thing is that you've got to have a goal and a vision."
Schwarzenegger: "My relationship to power and authority is that I'm all for it. People need somebody to watch over them. Ninety-five percent of the people in the world need to be told what to do and how to behave."
Schwarzenegger: “Forget plan B. To test yourself and grow, you have to operate without a safety net.”
Schwarzenegger: "With my desire and drive, I definitely wasn't normal. Normal people can be happy with a regular life. I was different. I felt there was more to life than plodding through a normal existence. I'd always been impressed by stories of greatness and power. I wanted to do something special, to be recognized as the best. I saw bodybuilding as the vehicle that would take me to the top, and I put all my energy into it."
Schwarzenegger: "You'll get more from being a peacemaker than a warrior."
Schwarzenegger: "I knew I was a winner back in the late sixties. I knew I was destined for great things. People will say that kind of thinking is totally immodest. I agree. Modesty is not a word that applies to me in any way - I hope it never will."
Schwarzenegger: "Milk is for babies. When you grow up you have to drink beer."
Schwarzenegger: “If you don’t believe in yourself, then how will anyone else believe in you?”
Schwarzenegger: "What we face may look insurmountable. But I learned something from all those years of training and competing. I learned something from all those sets and reps when I didn't think I could lift another ounce of weight. What I learned is that we are always stronger than we know."
Schwarzenegger: "If you don’t find the time, if you don’t do the work, you don’t get the results."
Schwarzenegger: "I think that gay marriage should be between a man and a woman."
Schwarzenegger: “I never felt that I was good enough, strong enough, smart enough. He let me know that there was always room for improvement. A lot of sons would have been crippled by his demands, but instead the discipline rubbed off on me. I turned it into drive.”
Schwarzenegger: "Vision creates faith and faith creates willpower."
Schwarzenegger: "Money doesn't make you happy. I now have $50 million but I was just as happy when I had $48 million."
Schwarzenegger: "When I was 15 years old I felt totally confident I would become a world champion and the greatest bodybuilder in the world. The same was true of show business - I knew that one day I would make more money than anyone else in the industry and I did. For that you need the willingness to work and do everything it takes to make the vision turn into reality."
Schwarzenegger: "The worst thing I can be is the same as everybody else. I hate that."
Schwarzenegger: "When your vision is powerful enough, everything else falls into place: how you live your life, your workouts, what friends you choose to hang out with, how you eat, what you do for fun. Vision is purpose, and when your purpose is clear, so are your life choices. Vision creates faith and faith creates willpower. With faith, there is no anxiety, no doubt - just absolute confidence."
Schwarzenegger: “Well, you know, I'm the forever optimist.”
Schwarzenegger: "If my life was a movie, no one would believe it."
Schwarzenegger: "The last three or four reps is what makes the muscle grow. This area of pain divides the champion from someone else who is not a champion. That's what most people lack, having the guts to go on and just say they'll go through the pain no matter what happens."
Schwarzenegger: "My body is like breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I don't think about it, I just have it."
Schwarzenegger: “What is the point of being on this Earth if you are going to be like everyone else and avoid trouble?”
Schwarzenegger: "No matter what you do, you first have to have a vision... to see your goal, to believe in it, have faith in it and chase it. And then it's fun to chase it. If you don't have a goal or a vision, then you have nothing."
Schwarzenegger: "It's simple, if it jiggles, it's fat."
Schwarzenegger: “it's not what you get out of life that counts. Break your mirrors! In our society that is so self-absorbed, begin to look less at yourself and more at each other. You'll get more satisfaction from having improved your neighborhood, your town, your state, your country, and your fellow human beings than you'll ever get from your muscles, your figure, your automobile, your house, or your credit rating”
Schwarzenegger: "Just remember, you can't climb the ladder of success with your hands in your pockets."
Schwarzenegger: "The mind is incredible. Once you've gained mastery over it, channeling its powers positively for your purposes, you can do anything. I mean anything. The secret is to make your mind work for you not against you. This means constantly being positive. Constantly setting up challenges you can meet either today, next week, or next month. 'I can't...' should be permanently stricken from your vocabulary, especially the vocabulary of your thoughts. You must see yourself always growing and improving."
Schwarzenegger: “Love stories are built around people's idiosyncrasies.”
Schwarzenegger: "The secret is contained in a three-part formula I learned in the gym: self confidence, a positive mental attitude, and honest hard work."
Schwarzenegger: "Training gives us an outlet for suppressed energies created by stress and thus tones the spirit just as exercise conditions the body."
Schwarzenegger: "You cannot get tired if you're interested in what you do. That's the key thing."
Schwarzenegger: "Be hungry for success, hungry to make your mark, hungry to be seen and to be heard and to have an effect. And as you move up and become successful, make sure also to be hungry for helping others."
