Privacy Policy for Lensward
Effective date: September 15, 2026
Lensward is a rehearsal coach for speaking to camera. It is built to keep
everything about you on your device. This policy explains what that means in
practice.
THE SHORT VERSION
Lensward has no account, makes no network requests, and contains no analytics or
advertising. Nothing you do in the app is recorded, uploaded, or shared with us
or anyone else. There is no server for your data to go to.
WHAT THE APP ACCESSES, AND WHY
Front (TrueDepth) camera. While you rehearse, Lensward reads your facial
expression, head position, and gaze from the TrueDepth sensor to measure your
delivery in real time. The camera feed is analysed frame by frame in memory and
immediately discarded. No video is ever recorded, saved, or transmitted.
Microphone and speech recognition. If you turn on listening, Lensward transcribes
your rehearsal on your device to count your speaking pace and filler words.
On-device recognition is required — your audio is never sent to Apple's servers
or anywhere else, and no audio recording is created or kept.
The app requests permission for the camera, microphone, and speech recognition
only for these purposes. You can decline or revoke any of them in iOS Settings;
the app continues to work with reduced measurement.
WHAT IS STORED, AND WHERE
Everything Lensward stores lives only on your device:
- Rehearsal sessions (your scores and timelines) are saved locally on your
device.
- Transcripts are discarded when a run ends unless you choose to keep them. Only
the counts derived from them are retained.
- Journal reflections are encrypted on your device with AES-256; the encryption
key is held in the iOS Keychain and never leaves the device.
None of this is backed up to us, synced to other devices by us, or accessible to
us. It is not shared with any third party.
DATA COLLECTION
Lensward does not collect any data. We do not gather personal information, usage
analytics, identifiers, or device information, because the app never communicates
with any server.
YOUR CONTROL OVER YOUR DATA
- You can erase all stored sessions at any time in Settings > Erase all sessions.
- Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device permanently.
CHILDREN
Lensward is rated 4+ and does not collect data from anyone, including children.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a
new effective date.
