# Privacy Policy for LensCapture Chrome Extension
**Last Updated:** July 4, 2026
LensCapture ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the LensCapture Chrome Extension.
## 1. Information Collection and Use
LensCapture is designed to perform text extraction (OCR) completely locally on your device.
* **No Image Transmission:** When you crop or capture an area of your screen, the image data is processed entirely in your browser's memory using Tesseract.js. No images, screenshots, or visual data are ever transmitted to our servers, Google, or any third party.
* **No Text Transmission:** The extracted text is rendered directly in the result panel on your screen and is only copied to your clipboard when you click the "Copy" button. We do not collect, store, or transmit your extracted text.
* **No Personal Data Collection:** We do not collect any personal identifier data, browsing history, or usage statistics.
## 2. Permissions Used
LensCapture requests the following permissions to function:
* **activeTab:** Used to capture a screenshot of the visible screen area to perform local OCR when you click the capture button.
* **scripting:** Used to dynamically load the Tesseract.js engine and the cropping interface on the active page.
* **storage:** Used only to save your settings locally on your machine.
## 3. Third-Party Services
We do not share any data with third-party services. The OCR engine (Tesseract.js) operates entirely offline and locally within the extension's sandbox.
## 4. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page.
