Lee Lockwood is a Professor of Economics at the University of Virginia, a Faculty Research Fellow of the National Bureau of Economic Research, and a member of the Board of Editors of the American Economic Journal: Economic Policy. His main research fields are public finance and labor economics, with a focus on the effects of government social insurance programs on behavior and welfare. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago, an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics, and a BS in Industrial Engineering and Economics from Northwestern University. He was awarded the 2019 TIAA Paul A. Samuelson Award for Outstanding Scholarly Writing on Lifelong Financial Security.
