For this subject, We will be talking about fractions and percentages.
Fractions
Fractions represent a part of something whole. A fraction has two parts. (Numerator and Denominator).
The number on the top of the line is called the numerator. It tells how much in which there is .
The number below the line is called the denominator. It tells how much the object has.
Types of fractions
First is the proper fraction. It is basically a normal fraction. like 2/3 or 7/9.
Next is the improper fraction. This is when the denominater is more than fhe numerator. like when you have a cake bit you also get another slice. That would be 5/4. since 4/4 is a whole cake and 1/4 would be a slice. 🎂🍰
Addition
First of all, to add fractions, you just add the two numerators ( 1/3 + 1/3 = 2/3). But, if the denominators are not the same, we have to multiply the denominators until they are the say number. This also affects the numerators (1/3 + 1/5 = 1x5/3x5 + 1x3/5x3 = 5/15 + 3/15 = 8/15). But it's not finished yet, you also have to simply it to the simplest for, This is also the same in subtracting. But when we get to multiplying, we have to multiply the numerators. (2/6 x 2/6 = 4/6). But if the denominator is not the same you should make it the simplest form by multiplying the first number's denominator with the other number's numerator and crisscross it again. (2/6 x 2/12 = 1/3 x 1/6). Only when we get there, we use the same formula as adding. (1x2/3x2 x 1/6 = 2/6 x 1/6 = 2/6). When it is dividing, we rotate the second number's numerator and denominator and then change the divide sign to multiply sign. Only when we get to there, we make it the simplest form and do the same as the formula for adding. ( 1/4 / 1/8 = 1/4 x 8/1 = 1/1 x 2/1 = 2/1 or 2).
Percentages
A percentage is a number or ratio that can be also used as a fraction. To calculate the percentage of a number, multiply the percentage number (e.g. 15/100) by the number that you're searching for the percentage of. (10/100) x 150 = 150/100 = 1.5 x 10 = 15) or (45/100 x 28 = 28/100 = 0.28 x 45 = 12.6)
