We facilitate a safe place for children to play, learn, make mistakes and grow. Our aim is to create an aesthetically pleasing environment - where children are happy to be.
We are nature enthusiasts and find that children are drawn to the outdoors and the natural world. We encourage children to listen and notice their outdoor surroundings. We spend a lot of time outdoors - whether the children are engaged in movement activities, free play and exploration or helping to take care of our vegetable patch. Children are encouraged to bring the treasures that they find during outdoor play inside to add to the collection of natural materials already present.
We follow the interests of the child, which means we listen and observe carefully when they engage in play and group discussions. It is then that we can create learning activities and set up our environment in a way that is engaging and meaningful.
We provide a rotation of toys, learning materials and different activity centres. The children will arrive to school to something new, whether it be a new projection, story, game or a new and exciting way that learning happens.
It’s in the details ... we plan our learning environment and activities with intent. We do so while leaving room for flexibility and spontaneity. Sometimes we don’t yet know where the ideas from the children will take us!
