Documentation helps to make children's learning visible. When learning is made "visible" adults can understand how children explore and learn, and children have the opportunity to look at themselves as learners. We want children to know that their experiences and voices are valued.
Each day, we record the children's learning by taking photographs and writing down their conversations, ideas and questions.
After cataloging their work, we display it inside and around the preschool so that the learning is being made visible within our community (classmates, teachers, parents and family). Children are encouraged to express their ideas and observations in a variety of ways: graphic representations (drawings), painting, dancing, drama, sculpting, photography, etc.
It is also here where we, as educators, can review the children's work and ideas which will help inform the next steps for our learning together.
